December 4, 201213 yr Since FSX is a 32bit application, I understand that it will not utilize more than 3gigs of RAM. How much RAM is enough to properly run the FSX and a bunch of addons running in the background? Jacek G. December 4, 201213 yr So 16 would certainly be an overkill then huh? If you are making and rendering videos, it could be useful. I used to have 4 GB of memory on an Apple iMac, but was unable to run McPhat Studios HD textures properly with the PMDG B747 due to memory issues. Both aircraft and scenery textures would blacken and disappear, and I would get freezes. Right now I use 8.0 GB or memory and have no problems. Investing in a better processor or overclocking will probably be more beneficial to performance.
December 4, 201213 yr Author I just put in 2x 4gb sticks in my box, hopefully that will cut it. Thanks for the input. Jacek G. Ryzen 5800X3D | Asus RTX4090 OC | 64gb DDR4 3600 | Asus ROG Strix X570E | HX1000w | Fractal Design Torrent RGB | AOC AGON 49' Curved QHD |
December 4, 201213 yr I use 8 and that is plenty. Be sure you have a good graphics card however. I use a GeForce GTX 560 Ti and this seems to be working. There plenty good ones out there. Tim Trosky Iowa
December 4, 201213 yr I'd say 6GB for a triple channel or 8GB for a dual or quad-channel board. That said, I have 16GB in my SB flight sim rig, and use half of that as dedicated disk cache for the dedicated FSX drive. That's a luxury...but not an expensive one as cheap as RAM is these days.
