December 6, 201213 yr This dredge is "Historic" so we've got to see it. Naturally due to this recognition, I'll make sure I read about it. Should make for an interesting read as I'm always interested in aerocaches that have some historic significance. This should be a new area for me also. Enjoy. Thank you. December 6, 201213 yr "ping" even before game was loaded. The aerocache pops in instantly when you start at the airfield. :fool:
December 6, 201213 yr I spent half an hour searching online and reading all the park info on this "historic" dredge before finally taking off to search for the aerocache. The fact that it jumped out at me before I had even raised the landing gear was a bit of a dissapointment to be honest. Meh, yesterdays was a good one so mustn't grumble. B)
December 6, 201213 yr Author I have to agree, this one was a bit disappointing as far as the flying goes. Fortunately, it was my 200th and I now have that award. Thank you. December 6, 201213 yr Author After I collected the cache and landed back at Coal Creek, I checked the job board and selected a cargo flight to Ft. Yukon, some 90+ miles away. Interestingly, as I took off and was rounding a mountain while gaining altitude, I saw the dredge again. Look just off my starboard wing tip and you can see it. Thank you. December 7, 201213 yr It was a challenge landing at the this dredge. It took me 3 tries to get down in one piece. The best approach seemed to be down wind and I really had to drop it in hard. When I did get down I was almost into a tree before I could get stopped. So I did have to get out and turn the plane around to take off. Full flaps, hold the toe brakes, full power, release the brakes and climb out into the wind just over the tree tops was no problem for the Carbon Cub. There sure was a complete and interesting history on this dredge. It even said it was between the airfield and the river. I have to agree it was way too close for any kind of hunt. Steve
