December 10, 201213 yr Im looking at buying some payware airliners and want to hear from those who have been down this path before me. Looking at... MD-80/83/88 B747-200 CRJ or ERJ Primarily looking at cockpit quality and systems fidelity, then exterior model. I have done alot of reading up on the Flight1 Super 80 Pro and like this one, but want to hear from others who own different packages. I'd love a good ole 747-200 especially an old freighter model with a nice steam gauge cockpit, but with a flight management system for my long hauls if such a beast even exists. And yes, I'm looking for a nice Regional Jet, with no allegiance to either the CRJ or the ERJ, Im just looking for the one with the best and most complete cockpit. Exterior models are secondary to me. Thanks in advance! A common mistake that people make when trying to design something completely foolproof is to underestimate the ingenuity of complete fools. - Douglas Adams, The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy

December 10, 201213 yr The only 742 I'm aware of is the CLS one, which is currently "overhauled", but then again, it's not a high end systems simulation. Regarding the CRJ, there isn't a good one, either, because from what I've heard/read, the Wilco CRJ is not good, and Aerosoft is still working on their (the Digital Aviation) CRJ, and I'm waiting for it myself. Then there's the Feelthere ERJ series, of which I have the 175/195, but I don't like it too much, because I find the manual doesn't explain the plane well at all, but that's only my personal opinion. I've read of quite a few people, that the ERJ series is good, and anyways it's the only ERJ there is. Regards, Flo Florian
December 10, 201213 yr The ERJ 135/145 V2 from FeelThere is good. I like it. I would skip the Wilco CRJ all together because every report back from everyone, even after the SP is that it is still horrible. I don't know of any 747-200 other than the PMDG 747, which I am not even sure of the model for that one. but it is PMDG, so it is good. As for the MD-80, I own the CoolSky DC-9 and it is one of my absolute favorite aircraft now, even over the PMDG NGX. I know they have an MD-80 model also one with and without an FMC, so I would look that way, as I like the one product they have very much, and a bunch of other people over there seem to love the MD series they have also. Support from CoolSky is also very good. Hope this helped a little. William Sequeira
December 10, 201213 yr I don't know of any 747-200 other than the PMDG 747, which I am not even sure of the model for that one. but it is PMDG, so it is good. The PMDG one is a 747-400, and they're redoing it, too. So if you really want a 747, you'd better wait, because either of the new releases is supposed to be better than the respective original version. Florian
December 10, 201213 yr Nice! Thanks for the clarification. I might just hold out myself and wait for the V2 whenever that may be released, as I don't own a single 747. William Sequeira
December 10, 201213 yr Hi all, Your right about the PMDG 747, it is a 400 model, full glass cockpit and they are redoing it with a version 2. If their other products are anything to go by it will be very high end in terms of system fidelity, but then all their aircraft are. However it might take a year or two before it appears! Just going on past experience with the 737NGX and the 777, DC6 etc.............They don't tend to release anything until it is spot on, in fact the 737 manuals that come with that aircraft are reprints of the actual Boeing manuals! Have you considered one of the most realistic system wise aircraft I have come across in FSX again from PMDG. That is the MD11. Very good system fidelity, works on a medium spec computer system, as it has been out a few years now, and comes with freighter and passenger versions included..............It is my first choice even before the 737NGX! Worth checking out on youtube before you part with any money, as it is quite expensive as are all PMDG aircraft. But then as they say, you get what you pay for!! Hope this helps some, I'd be interested in what you eventually decide to add to your hanger eventually. Happy Flying, Happy Flying, Dave Phillips.
