December 13, 201213 yr Does anybody How get rid of the jerkiness when recording Fraps? Video Link below. Aaron Brazda.
December 13, 201213 yr You probably ought to Google that one in order to get the short answer. Basically you are sort of "overspeeding" your CPU. While it can and does give you more performance from a slightly slower processor, if not done carefully it can result in a variety of problems all its' own. But having said that, almost everyone that has a processor capable of being overclocked (some aren't) runs some level of overclock, me too. December 13, 201213 yr Ok what I do if my FSX is on drive C, I make sure to record to drive D. problem is Fraps never like to read and write to the same drive. I do get absolute fluid videos when reading from drive C, but always writing to drive D/E/F whatever as long as it is another drive and believe me I have mediocre machine. try that, that work like a dream.>!
December 14, 201213 yr Author I have no idea if this Answerable or not but could I just add more RAM and a new Graphic card Could I get a better Fraps Effect and an overall better simming Experience Are what need to upgrade my CPU as well And add more process, I'll post my full computer specs or what I could find below this, If you need more info just let me know if I try to find it. December 14, 201213 yr Apart from the graphics card, (I have a GTX480), I have basically same machine. I see you only have one drive. again as I said, I only record to another drive.. never to the same drive as my FSX drive, almost always fluid videos..!
December 14, 201213 yr More RAM definatly, Win 7 uses most of that itself, not leaving much for intensive games like FS. A better video card would also help as well as overclocking. The OC also might require more cooling, but 2.5 is slow for FS. Check with someone local about getting it OC'd. With those specs and all you had running in that video I'm not surprised its jerky. Jay
December 15, 201213 yr Author So You could pick And/or recommend three things Off my current PC spec to upgrade first which would they be not including overclocking, Overclocking seems to advance for me. Aaron Brazda.

December 15, 201213 yr FRAPS is the most system resource demanding recorder software there is. Not just in performance, but in disk space usage. The output video though is quite good though. Quite frankly your system just isn't up to it, as neither is mine, which is a 3.0Ghz E6850 C2D. If you don't mind losing a little graphic quality you may want to look into a program called GameCam. It's one of the older programs, and while still being sold, isn't being actively supported at this time. That said, it is the best performing recording software on the market, with little frame rate hit, and uses a fraction of the disk space that Fraps would use for the same length video. It does this though with a lossy compression method, hence the loss in graphic quality, but IMHO it's not too bad. (Check out my youtube videos below) You can get the program here, as with FRAPS there is a free trial version and a fully functioning Pay version. The one function that it doesn't have that I would have liked is the ability to record from a second sound source like FRAPS can. Here's where you can get it. http://v2.planetgamecam.com/?locid=features Thanks Tom My Youtube Videos! http://www.youtube.com/user/tf51d
December 15, 201213 yr Sorry I ment "So if you could pick" not "so you could pick" RAM first, if nothing else it will help with FSX. However it's just a start. From watching your video, you have so much going on in that that even a top end system is going to have trouble recording. You need to turn off everything except the plane, all that stuff running in the background eats up your resources big time, expecially anything that uses voice, and clouds. Jay

December 19, 201213 yr Intel core Quad CPU Q9300 2.50GHz, is this what I need to overclock? And how do I do it and how far could I OC it without needing Another or more fans? Yes thats it but if you aren'y familiar with the process, you should have an expert do it, or you could cook your processor Jay
