December 27, 201213 yr Author Run FSX in windowed. Open GPU-Z on the side, with Sensors. Run your scenario where spikes are happening, observe your CPU usage. How is it? Well i tested in two airports LFBO and Schipol lfbo: memory usage around 420, 450 when turning camera fastly gpu temp 46 gpu load 50% to 70% and 99% when i turn camera fastly. (spikes appear at 98% - 99%) Schipol gate b12: memory usage 520-550mb gpu temp 48 gpu load 90-99%; my game is full of spikes !! gpu core clock : 1033 memory clock 1502 at both airports
December 28, 201213 yr If you are running FSx in windows mode, make sure you either 'hide' the taskbar or move it to another monitor if you have one. If the FSX window touches the taskbar, FPS goes in the tank. Jay
December 28, 201213 yr hi, this may sound weird but i had that in bf3 and im was constantly banging flat head on a wall! the way i fixed this was a simple run as administrative mode, try it it could be fsx just needs that. many thanks I7 10700K 16GB 3600MHZ RTX3080FE
December 28, 201213 yr Talek, unless I've missed something, I haven't seen anywhere in this thread you pposting a) your system specs or B) your FSX slider settings, or HAVE I missed something? To be frank, this thread is completely redundant without knowing this information. You could have th fastest machine in the FSX community, but if you're running with the wrong FSX settings you'll still have problems. I respectfullly suggest that you should be looking at this area before considering other 'outside' influences such as tweaks and hardware... could you reply with these settings please... BTW: I get spikes too in certain scenarios, panning the camera around the aircraft while parked at Schipol airport (Aerosoft?) is VERY likely to give you what you describe anyway! But as I say, it all depends on your FSX settings, so let us know what they are and your PC specs... as Word Not Allowed has said, it's all about a balanced system. December 28, 201213 yr I recommend that you relieve your GPU by setting in the Nvidia Inspector: 1) AntiAliasing to 8xS (if you have it on a higher setting) and 2) set Transparency to "Multisampling: Enabled" and "Off/Multisampling" (instead of 2x SGSS) In your situation you have to trade off some image quality in order to lift some burden from the GPU so that you get rid of the spikes. Unfortunately every system is different so you have to adapt any performance guide to your system's capabilities and your personal preferences. Word Not Allowed's guide is excellent. I use it too, but with 2xSGSS I also get spikes and low frame rates with overcast weather. My system hits a wall there so I had to trade off some IQ (not much anyway) to have excellent framerates and no spikes in any situation.
December 28, 201213 yr Another suggestion will be to try and find the balance for your GPU loading by using: Usepools=1 Rejectthreshold=98304 Using this setting pools all values below that value before sending to the video card. Anything above it gets sent directly. This seems to work for most folk. If you still get spikes try increasing the rejectthreshold setting; 96kb=98304 (anything less os equivalent to usepools=0) 128kb = 131072 256kb = 262144 512kb = 524288 Work through the numbers till you find the right balance. Can actually be any number, so keep trying until you find a setting that doesn't display any spikes. Danny Hicks

December 28, 201213 yr Author Usepools=1 Rejectthreshold=98304 i set water to mid 2x with this, massive stutters gone, my game is quiet smooth and i think i'll reduce some micro stutters by defragmenting my hdd even at schipol i have 25fps in the ngx cockpit i used to have 15 with poolsize=0 and water high 2x. i am going to make some ngx flights this week but this is not done because poolsize=0 worked well before, (with my W7 home edition,) I am sure there is something wrong in my computer ! i am going to reinstall home edition and continu investigating on this next week because i am crazy
