December 22, 201213 yr This process hasn't worked for me and I wonder is there a way to revert back to having the files involved back to the way they were pre-tweaks. Yes i know i should have copied my original settings but i didn't. What i do have is a copy of FSX tweak-free on another computer so hopefully i could replace any files i needed to ...???
December 22, 201213 yr Are you talking about moving back to DX-9? If so I think Paul j has a stock shaders folder in the how to DX-10 section. Might give it a look. Jamie Moses
December 22, 201213 yr Author Hi Jamie ... what i'm aiming for is getting back to the 'starting point' as it were where i have confirmed that the DX10 option is working but before i have made any of the tweaks which underpin this forum. My basic issue is that the bulk of the expected fixes have worked with the notable exception of having shadows. My planes have no VC shadows nor do they create shadows on the tarmac ...
December 23, 201213 yr Yeah - here's the stock ShadersHLSL folder, AK: just delete the modified one and put this in its place (after you've unzipped it and saved another copy, (just in case!) Don't forget to delete the Shaders10 folder in your "C:\Users\(your username)\AppData\Local\Microsoft\FSX" folder. i7 [email protected] | 32GB RAM | EVGA RTX 3080Ti | Maximus Hero VII | 512GB 860 Pro | 512GB 850 Pro | 256GB 840 Pro | 2TB 860 QVO | 1TB 870 EVO | Seagate 3TB Cloud | EVGA 1000 GQ | Win10 Pro | EK Custom water cooling.

There's nothing you need to change. Just change your setting in the FSX settings to disable DX10 Preview, shut down FSX and restart and you're back to 17th Century DX9. The file that was changed (General10) belongs solely to DX10 and has nothing to do with DX9. I wouldn't mess with it. Best regards, Jim Jim Young | AVSIM Online! - Simming's Premier Resource! December 24, 201213 yr Commercial Member If there were no shadows on ground then I would imagine that the OP had an issue with his generalshadow10.fx. As a test I deliberately broke mine and recompiled and there were indeed then no ground shadows. The patch installer from the avsim library doesn't alter that file at all it only makes changes to general10.fx. My FSX Analysis Blog
