MS Essentials software caused the crash, not the Airbus. There was a problem with the Microsoft Security Client Setup. You computer is infected with Malware. You cannot normally install security software with Malware or a virus on your system - http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/protect/forum/mse-protect_scanning/can-i-install-mse-to-clean-up-my-already-infected/87058857-d181-4019-a723-efd9a49d9275.

Is there any way to fix this? Running antivirus or such?

I would exclude the whole FSX folder in MS Ess. To make sure that there isn't a virus, a routine scan will help, when the sim isn't running. The exclusion then provides that no scanning and disk time is devoted to MSE while you want to fly. Either way, is there a log in MSE showing what exactly was blocked or scanned?

If Jim is right and if you already are infected with some virus, FSX doesn't have priority now. You may use a separate and clean CD to boot from and then scan the drives of yours to get rid or at least specify the infection.

So perhaps don't care about the sim but start with the PC itself. A second PC or a friend can help you getting a clean medium to boot from and scan.

Just want to make it clear I do not consider a 'Malware' as a computer virus. Of course there could have been a virus but highly unlikely. The most common infection is Malware and it has the capability of turning things on or off in your system or preventing access. IMHO the best Malware cleaner out there is Malwarebytes - http://www.malwarebytes.org/

Jim

After running a security scan, I goth the exact same error at the exact same time...

First of all, though, is there a chance it has been fixed in the hotfix?

It looks like a BEX issue now. Is there a fix to this problem?

You have a problem with the Microsoft Visual C++ 2005 SP1 Redistributable Package. It appears it is missing a security update - http://support.micro....com/kb/2538242 or the security update caused the crash. MSV 2005 SP1 was suppose to be loaded with Acceleration but Acceleration was released before the update could be added to the Acceleration package. The version number of the faulting module - MSVCR80.dll, V 8.0.50727.6195 appears to be properly installed on your system but it may be missing a security update. It could be a wrong version too that FSX is looking for of the DLL. Complicated? Yes. I have no solid solution other than to review the link I provided and see if it fits with your situation. Buffer Exceptions are common. It is probably the hardest crash to find the answer as to why it happened. It is most likely associated with the faulting module.

After running a security scan, I goth the exact same error at the exact same time...

This is confusing. Did you run Malwarebytes? What security scanner did you use? MS Essentials will not work until you clean your computer of Malware and/or Viruses.

Best regards,

Jim

A current set of MSVC++ 2005 redistributables does not fix this problem.

The MSVCR80.dll is being reported in the aerosoft forums with the airbus X Extended quite a bit. And frankly, I have had that same CTD with the AXE.

Mathijs Kok from Aerosoft provided a link to try to correct it. http://pcsupport.abo...ssing-error.htm

Well it's part of the MS Visual C++ 2005 Redistributable package that is installed when you install FSX.

Best regards,

Jim

There are consistently reproducable CTDs occurring on the Aerosoft Airbus X Extended, especially after Hotfix 1 is installed--most that I am aware of are related to MCDU handling of route entries. Many of these CTDs report MCVSRT80.DLL as the faulting module...but that does NOT mean there's a problem with your system. If errant panel code calls functions from the runtime library with out-of-limits or nonsense parameters, it can cause FSX to crash, and a perfectly good VC runtime may well show up in the log as the faulting module. With a number of faults reported on the forums, multiple users are able to reproduce a crash with particular route entries or MCDU actions, like certain SIDs or clearing discontinuities--and often MSVCRT80.DLL is the faulting module. When this occurs on multiple systems using multiple operating systems, it's not a problem with the runtime library installation. So clearly there are some serious bugs in the MCDU code...it seems prudent to wait for the developer to fix these problems before meddling with an otherwise well-tuned system configuration.

Now if you're having seemingly random MSVCRTxx.dll CTDs, or a problem that points to an obvious C++ runtime library problem (i.e. system error reporting that MSVCRT80.DLL is missing), that's a different situation.
