CG problem with 737NG

Featured Replies

I am having on-going problems with CG settings. Today for instance, I loaded up an addon plane: load was 76% (Fuel was 50% Passengers full.Hold 75%) This should have been fine to fly as the ZF weight was 59 (max listed as 62). The FMC showed the CG as minus 24.6% so I could not set the rest of the FMC as it kept giving "invalid input".

If I input a positive reading manually, I can set the FMC and take off.

This also happens on the PMDG planes.

It is an intermittant thing, sometimes it works, sometimes not.

Any ideas on how to fix this: it is getting a real pain.

Something is really odd if the FMS is showing you a CG as minus 24.6, I have never seen that. You sure it isn't just 24.6%?

Got a screenie?

could you be using lb's when its expecting kg's and vice versa?

Got it to do it at the second attempt.

Could it be something to do with launching FSX from REX?

Tried without launching from REX and it worked!

Will now see over the next few days if that stays the case.

After days of frustration, I think that the problem is related to the payload manager. If I watch the CG in the FMC, I see fuel has no adverse effect but passengers and cargo tip the CG into negative. (today there were 12 pax and no cargo, any more and it went into negative).

This happens although the total load of the plane is shown as well within limits (today it showed 64%).

The mystery is that this does not happen every time.

And yes I have reloaded and yes it loads into 2d first.

You do set all your weights and fuel in the FMC and not some external payload manager right?

now you got me thinking is the op refering to the 737ng for the fs9 or the ngx sinces havnt seen any payload manager for the ngx, unless he is using topcat to load the fuel and weights?

OK We might have the answer. Submitted a ticket to PMDG and got a reply in 30 minutes!

They told me to delete FSUIPC4.ini which sometimes gets corrupted.

Did that and so far it works, no problems.
