Love Opus and the weather but cannot get on with the cam views!

Featured Replies

Love Opus and the weather but cannot get on with the cam views! I have really tried but I keep going back to EzDok. How do I get the view transitions to be as smooth and floaty ( is that a word?) as they are with your rival software? Any advice would be most welcome.

I agree, is there also anyway to get the 'mouse look' to float like in EZDOK.

Its far too jerky and seems unnatural in comparison. Also the way the camera views transition is no way near as polished in my opinion.

However the DHM, turbulence etc. is excellent - It's this that has stopped me (for the moment) reinstalling EZDOK - if this was twinned with the 'slickness' of EZDOk then it would be truly amazing..

Agreed Phil, I love DHM/Turb ect,but the camera movment just does not come close to EZDOK.

Checked out your YouTube Channel, fantastic mate, you have another subscriber..

Hi guys

Have you tried altering the transition speed, it is different for different aircraft sims. All our transitions are smooth in-house so can you give me some further info on how the transition speed is jerky, does it just start off jerky or is jerky for the whole transition? The cause of the jerkyness is probably down to FSX throwing away the position requests since it is too busy to process them, hence the transition can be much smoother in windowed mode as opposed to full screen, have you noticed this?

Cheryl

I'll wait a while for a camera update otherwise EZDOK will return.

I think the movement could do with some ease in/out, and I do miss not being able to look around using the mouse middle button.

To pan around you can use either the standard hat switch, FSX Mouse Look or TrackIR.

FSX uses the hat switch as standard for panning views around, this panning is fully compatible with our camera control and effects. If you have disabled your controllers in FSX and are using FSUIPC then you can enable mouse wheel button panning and that also re-enables the hat switch on the joystick.

FSX Mouse Look conflicts with TrackIR so you need to disable TrackIR (F9) prior to using Mouse Look.

To use Mouse Look try the following methods;

• press the space bar whilst holding down the left mouse button

• hold down the middle wheel button whilst moving the mouse around

• press shift-O then move whilst holding down the left mouse button, press shift-O again to exit mouse look

• program the wheel button to shift-O in your mouse driver.

Hi Cheryl,

thank you for replying, don't get me wrong; I "Love" Opus and I think it's probably me not setting up correctly, and yes I only use window mode. Will keep trying, I'm sure perseverence will pay off in the end ^_^

If you are using TIR then you can use our cameras to change your viewpoint to a different custom view.

Are the cams used by folks using trackir? If so what is it used for?

They work perfectly together. For instance, if I want to read something on the GPS, such as ground speed, I just lean forward and TrackIR "zooms" in for me. But if I want to adjust the GPS via a (annoyingly small) click spot, I use a custom camera which has TrackIR and DHM movement frozen, meaning I can operate the click spot no matter how unsteady my head is.

Most of my cockpits are set up with a pilot view with full movement, and a frozen radio stack view...

Superb program developing even as we speak :-)

Thanks for checking out my channel Sierra :)

Cheryl - thanks for the reply, I'm already using the middle mouse button for panning around via FSUIPC but what I was saying is that it just doesn't float, or have that 'smooth' feeling when you pan/look, probably as it's a default FSX movement. If you guys could tweak this so the user could dial down the speed and add smoothness to the 'mouse look' (as in EZDOK) then it would be a very welcome and brilliant addition.

OK, see what you mean but up until now our philosophy has been not to change the default FSX key assignments or the FSX mouse function. Anyway when we have finalised our weather engine (soon) we will get on to making improvements within Live Camera.

Cheers

Sierra - I cant take any credit for the DX10 stuff at all - Its all in the DX10 forum on here.

All I have done is turn the info there it into a video tutorial.
