A quick poll for the best app this year. Hopefully it might help newbies like me decide which ones to buy

I think you mean 'UT 2' in the traffic section, although it's not really '2012' since the core program is what? 3 years old now?

In fact, that makes me question my vote for it, the 2012 schedules were, by all accounts, awful until the beta fall/winter schedules, so voting for UT2 on that should probably be solely on the basis of the 'final' schedule updates released, and not include the (pretty good) fall/winter schedule...

Likewise, has UTX updated this year?

UTX isn't a textures app.

After installing UTX, Europe ground textures are A LOT better, no need for GEX imho. So it brings a nice set of textures also. ;)

Current system: ASUS PRIME Z690-P D4, Intel 12900k, 32GB RAM @ 3600mhz, Zotac RTX 3090 Trinity, M2 SSD, Oculus Quest 2.

No, it doesn't bring any textures. I'm sure it makes Europe look nicer, but it does so with its custom landclass, coastlines, roads, bridges, etc. It uses regular FSX textures. You may be satisfied without GEX, but GEX is textures. There are other textures available as well. And ground textures, which UTX is not, is a very different thing from sky and water textures, which the other two options in that category do supply.

The poll is both incomplete and shows some misunderstanding. It's not really a poll about the "best apps of 2012" but just one of the usual threads asking for input to help make a buying decision.

First of all, sorry for offtopic.

Second, I doubt that UTX doesn't bring new textures, here's why:

default FSX over Germany:

with UTX only (no GEX):

The difference is obvious, it is much better with UTX. And in addition, I've never seen these textures in FSX before activating UTX.

So, what's the secret? :)

Unless the people voting have each of these add-ons - how can this poll be accurate? People will just vote for what they have.

Second, I doubt that UTX doesn't bring new textures, here's why:

Yes, they look different but not because of UTX textures because UTX really, honestly, genuinly, believe me, does NOT come with new textures. Period. Case closed.

The poll is a bit useless, also because you have to vote on everything and I don't have a traffic addon so I can't vote...

Opus is amazing, especially the latest release version.
