January 1, 201313 yr I was given a stand-alone VRinsight COM/NAV box for Christmas. It has one USB connection and came with a USB cable and a CD with a manual and drivers/software. I read the (somewhat confusing) manual and installed the software, then plugged the USB cable between the COM/NAV box and my PC. The box lit up and identified itself as a COM/NAV box. I ran the software before and while running FSX, it finds the COM/NAV box. There is a checkbox "use this unit" that I checked, and a blank field for "Aircraft". Although I can turn the COM/NAV knobs and see frequency numbers change on the box, the COM/NAV frequencies do not change on FSX default aircraft. Has anyone had any expeience in setting up this stand-alone unit with FSX? I have registered on the VRinsight forums but still have to be authorized. I also have FSUIPC (registered) installed. Thanks, Bruce. ASEL, Instrument. KBJC, Colorado.
January 1, 201313 yr Write to support for help at the address below, they will get back to you eventually. They are going through some difficulties at the moment and I no longer run the forum for them, it's all going to be done in house in future, so delays are going to be a part and parcel for everyone now that I am no longer helping them. Sorry I can't help anymore but I don't have one of those panels so I am unfamiliar with it. See the page below for all the latest software direct from the VRi Developer. http://www.vrinsight.com/devel_shot Actually looking at that page I think you need to install the software below as well as the VRiSim software. That is presuming you are talking about the com/nav panel with the blue display. http://vrinsight.com/devel_shot/Setup/Install_Radio-Stack_Pro.exe Cheers, Andy.
January 2, 201313 yr Author Thanks Andy, your reply is much appreciated. I see that you have been very active in the VRi forums in the past, I sure hope the developers find a way to do as good a job as you have been..... I did download the .exe from the link you supplied, I noted that the COM/NAV box wasn't listed in the devices list. However, I can now get my box working by running the VRiSim software and letting it find the box while FSX is running (if I re-run VRiSim every time I start FSX), whereas this wouldn't work yesterday prior to downloading and running the software you linked to. VRiSim also looks differently now and is actually functional. Thanks again for your help. Bruce. ASEL, Instrument. KBJC, Colorado.
January 2, 201313 yr Glad you got it working Bruce, yes you need to run VRiSim every time you load FSX, happy flying. Cheers, Andy.
January 2, 201313 yr Just out of interest, Bruce. Which VRI unit are we talking about. That instrument radio stack? Or that COM and NAV thingy from the pro stack?
January 3, 201313 yr Author Thanks Andy, your help is much appreciated. Hi CoolP. I have just the "COM and NAV thingy", not the entire instrument stack. It would be nice to have a rack mounting (I also have one GoFlight similar module and that came with a 2X rack, the rack was ordered separately). I find the GF module sometimes works and sometimes doesn't, an issue I believe with DLL.XML. That's why I wamted to try one standalone module. Thanks, Bruce. ASEL, Instrument. KBJC, Colorado.
January 3, 201313 yr I find the GF module sometimes works and sometimes doesn't, an issue I believe with DLL.XML. Hello The Goflight Module does not need any entry in the Dll.XML In order for the GFDevFSX.exe to load automatically you need the following in your EXE.XML and also set the GFDevFSX.exe to be run as administrator as well as FSX ran as admin <Launch.Addon> <Disabled>False</Disabled> <Name>GoFlight FSX Data Bridge</Name> <ManualLoad>False</ManualLoad> <Path>C:\Program Files (x86)\GoFlight\GFDevFSX.exe</Path> <CommandLine></CommandLine> </Launch.Addon> I have also known FSX not ask to trust the driver on the first run and not add GFDevFSX.exe to the trusted section of the FSX.cfg unless both the driver and FSX are run as admin The Goflight modules are superior to the VRinsight units by a large margin.
