C310R RXP

Featured Replies

I got a quick question if anyone could help me out. I love flying the C310 from Milviz. Is there anyway to put the RXP 530/430 into the cockpit?

Thanks

John

I have the RXP 530 in mine. Sorry to say that I can't remember what I did to get it there but I don't remember it being difficult at all. I'm no FSX techie guy so it must be pretty simple.

Well certainly. Look at the "Free Radio" version...

Simply edit this file and replace the GNS530/430 units with the RXP units!

..\SimObjects\Airplanes\Cessna 310R MilViz\panel.freeradio\panel.cfg

Is it all 3d knobs?

Never mind I got it, but for some reason now its not tracking the route I put in the GPS. Any ideas?

Make sure you get the references to RXP correct. Don't just change the GPS model reference. Also eliminate the pointer. Example:

Don't just replace

"FBS_GNS530" with "rxpGNS!GNS530"

You need to change the whole reference.

"C310_XMLGauges!FBS_GNS430" to "rxpGNS!GNS530"

Do this everywhere you find the FBS or FS references to GNS530.

I had great luck with the panel.freeradio version, but I am having difficulty with the panel version, where I am attempting to get both the 530 and 430 into the panel. In that case I am getting operational RXPs into the panel except the two sets of inner/outer knobs are giving me control of only the inner knobs. The knobs also are thinner and protrude further. The pop ups work fine.

Very confused . Where do I find "C310_XMLGauges!FBS_GNS430?

n4gix said it. Look in ..\SimObjects\Airplanes\Cessna 310R MilViz\panel.freeradio\panel.cfg.

If you need more help PM me and I'll send you my panel.cfg

John. In the panel.cfg file. There is one for the default Milviz C310 texture in the C310's "panel" folder, ".....Microsoft Flight Simulator X\SimObjects\Airplanes\Cessna C310R MilViz\panel" and another in the "panel.freeradio" folder at that location.

In an earlier message you said "never mind, I got it......." What did you mean by that. If you are not experienced in modifying the .cfg files you should make safe backups of the original files before moving forward.

Here is how the Vcockpit01 section of my original panel.cfg file looked. In this message I added a blank line above and below the original MilViz GPS entry to add ease in identifying it.

There are several entries in the panel.cfg file that need to be changed in order for the RXP units to appear in both the virtual cockpit and in the various pop up windows.

Thanks for the example. I don't know why its not tracking the gps route.

Nevermind, its tracking now. Thanks for your help!

John,

Did you run the Reality XP installer application to install the RXP GPS(s) into the 310R, or did you just modify the panel.cfg file? You have to do both.

The regular "..\panel" version has 3d knobs that are precisely sized and located to match the GNS units I programmed. The knobs on the RXP units are not the exact same sizes or positions, so of course they will not "fit" well...

That was the reason for creating the "free radio" option, as it has no 3d knobs to interfere with whatever you decide to use... There are simply two completely flat vc panels on which to place gauges.

Ahhh! Now it makes sense. That from a fellow Hoosier! I have worked this afternoon (After the Ravens/Colts game) with the free radio panel and have both the RXP530 and RXP 430 in there, though I can't get their aspect ratios where they should be when I retain the ADF tuner and there is clearly room for the correct aspects in the panel as you can see below comparing the VC to the popup, which has the correct aspect.

I will be out of pocket for a couple of days (heading from my Maryland home up to State College to watch my alma mater IU play some roundball). When I return I may sent you a PM describing my efforts. I increased the vertical size of the VC_02_FR blank in Photoshop and still did not make progress. The two fuel warning lights seem to be an impediment. I also completed a custom livery, using IU red, which was by-the-way only a slight change, recoloring the gold stripe to gray, and adding my custom tail number.
