I would'nt take the Plunge

Hi, Purchaed FsWater today. I see a big thread about it. I have spent about 1 hour with this program. I have to say that while it has some good assets like easy install, water is pretty, I feel like I wasted my money.$15.00 is a bit much when there is plenty of good freeware around. I don't mean to be rude but when one is not really happy with something, this is a forum to speak about flight sim. issues I suppose. Perhaps it should have been a "try before you buy" release. Thank you, S.

That's one of the great things about Flight1. If you don't like it, you can get a refund. 30 Day, Money Back. Don't need a "try before you buy" policy.

And its also one of the great things about forums such as this that, once you sort through the hype, you can get a good idea whether something is worth the time effort and money of downloading. That was a great review. Short and to the point. Thanks.Look forward to reading further reviews, here and elsewhere, so we can get a balanced opinion. In the meantime, I'm more than happy with the water textures I already have, don't need a front end to change them while I fly, and don't think the screenshots on the Flight 1 pages do very much to sell the advantages, if any. There are no screenshots of the interface, for example. And it would be nice to hear from the developer as to whether these textures now require the water slider to be all the way to the right, as this has a large impact on fps in mid-range and older systems. And his previous freeware ones were useful for the very reason that they worked with the slider in the mid-position. Allcott

Here is a nice comparison page that we have put up. Take a look at before and after shots for yourself...http://www.flight1software.com/showcase/fswaterBest Regards,Tom MainFlight One Software

Thanks for that, Tom!sg

Yep, thanks for that. The Vilk textures do look better. The colour contrast between sea and sky seems incompatible in many of those shots, as wrong as the originals and their `electrified` colours.Perhaps they look better in motion. Allcott

I just bought FSWater, and I'm very happy. For me FSwater looks better. So it's a personal choice.Jack

Hello, These shots show exactly the default fs2004 texture on both side and are edited to others colors only. Freeware Ocean Fx are better.BestEric

Eric those are not the same shot just color corrected. They two completely different sets of water textures.Best,Tom MainFlight One Software

>I just bought FSWater, and I'm very happy. For me FSwater>looks better. So it's a personal choice.>>JackYou are right, of course it is personal choice. Still important to pass on information to help that choice be informed, is all. We're getting hooked up on several different issues. The only one that matters is whether the textures are god enough to pay for, when better textures (opinions again) are available for free. With the Flight 1 money back guarantee there shouldn't be any problem trying them all out, and there is already a freeware option which delivers a front end to make things adjustable, and alternative textures that deliver equal or better results. But that doesn't make the FS Water package illegal or immoral. Value for Money is also a subjective evaluation. Allcott

In any case, Tom, I personally appreciate your positive attitude in this forum as people have critiqued the program's merit. Though I may not buy FS Water, you certainly have strengthened my faith in Flight1 and I will continue to be a loyal customer.

I fully second your statement. I will not buy FSWater either, I don't even have freeware ones installed. But the fact that Tom came over here with a cool head in the face of all the bashing, and hasn't once lost his temper or made an obscene post, going so far as to offer some free copies, has indeed strengthened my faith in Flight1 and I will continue to purchase products from you.......looking forward to the ATR and Pilatus, as well as IWI4.

If I load each of an image pair into separate tabs in Firefox, and switch between the tabs, all of the detail looks identical. Only the color cast seems to change.Perhaps I don't understand how water textures work or how they should otherwise appear differently in the images.

Tom handled the situation extremely well. I'm not sure if I'll buy FSWater for not, but I am certainly considering it, and I will continue to purchase Flight1 products.

I am a proud owner of Flight1 last product and I don't regret my purchase at all.I bought it despite the surprizing "autodafe" I can read in some posts.I have tried every generous work made by all talentuous people on the internet.I am really looking for 'beauty' in my sim.I am always looking for textures as closest as possible from reality. And I have to say that FSWater has no competitor. The water textures are excellent. They are a balance between the various freeware textures we already know. There is a variety of subtile colors that I never saw in FS2004.The dawn/dusk atmosphere is fantastic.I am running a 22' monitor with a resolution of 1920x1440x32 to get the nicest picture as possible.I am not linked at all to Flight1, I appreciate the company, their seriousness and their products quality.Sorry for my bad English but I felt like a duty to give my (very positive) opinion.best regards,David in jerusalem
