Featured Replies

Well got the new computer. Plugged it in at 10am and Ive only just managed to install FS9...............havent a clue what Im doing and getting VVVVVVV frustrated with windows 7 (XP for years). What a nightmare nothing like XP all over the place.

Been using an Ipad to look things up on here and other sites to help to try and find hidden files ect ect.

trying to install Ge pro and UT Europe. Cant understand a thing to do with the Flight1 e commerse to re install on a new computer. Im sure its me and ive sent them an email to try and help. Wish i never started now.

Ive given up for the day.

A fed up Steve

Find NickN's setup guide--it'll help with your Win7 setup, for example getting UAC turned off.

And don't install FS in its default location or in any directory named "Program Files" or "Program Files (x86)"--Win7 does some unhappy special things when writing to files in those directories.

Steve, firstly FS9 works perfectly in W7, and as Bob rightly says, install it into it's own folder on the C Drive or whatever drive you use, i.e. C:\Flight Simulator 9. Secondly and not to upset you, patience is the word. I have transfered from XP to 7 without too much hassle. If you have a backup of ,say, the Aircraft folder, Effects, Add On Scenery etc., you should be able to copy onto a dongle or similar and paste to your new FS9 folders. Obviously anything that has been installed with an exe. probably won't work. Seriously, it has taken me quite a few months to install everything I want, I also used the time to double check a lot of stuff which over time had been installed on the old computer. Don't forget to make back ups . Must admit Flight1 transferring is a bit of a pain, I think I just reinstalled from my saved copy, has been working fine.

I can never understand why something you buy has to have a license , an install code, OK, but a license ??? Hope you get it up and running.

Ok ive taken a break and come back. thanks for the advice lads. I have put FS9 into a seperate folder and also done as KnickN advised. Finally managed to get UT Europe downloaded and installed first, as was suggested some time ago, before the install of all the scenery and aircraft. Ive now checked FS9 on the default aircraft and seems to be working fine. Its like going from a Ford cortina (IntelP4) to a Ferrari (3770K and o/c).

Ive also made the 4 gb patch. Loads more to do. I have backups of most of my previous XP install so will try a few install tomorrow.

Thanks again for your advice and I think PATIENCE is the word.....which you can see im lacking in????

Steve

There are plenty of folks here that can help you. You might have better luck too if you change your title to something more relevant to your problem. A majority will simply go right past your post.

Sincerely,
