January 20, 201313 yr I recently had an innocuous post in this forum about User Account Control. I can no longer see it, and the last user's post I can see is dated 29 November 2012. Has there been a problem? Gerry Howard
January 20, 201313 yr Sorry, don't know. I haven't seen the post in question, but there may have been something that deemed it inappropriate for that section of the forum? It may have been removed by the Tips and Tricks mod for either of these reasons: http://forum.avsim.net/topic/393326-do-not-ask-questions-here/ http://forum.avsim.net/topic/364772-please-post-any-new-tips-and-tricks-to-the-new-tutorial-section/
January 20, 201313 yr Author My post said that I was getting the UAC window that a program wanted to make changes when launching FSX from a desktop shortcut. After accepted that it ran OK. I reported that I solved it by deleting the shortcut and creating a new one. What could be inappropriate about that? Gerry Howard
January 20, 201313 yr I solved it by deleting the shortcut and creating a new one. I remember reading that and thought it was useful information. It may have been moved because the wording wasn't in the form of a tip. Hook Larry Hookins Oh! I have slipped the surly bonds of EarthAnd danced the skies on laughter-silvered wings;

January 20, 201313 yr Author I'll repost it but would still like a reason for its removal. Gerry Howard
January 20, 201313 yr Your original post is here: http://forum.avsim.net/topic/397119-user-account-control/ I'd PM you, but you have PMs turned off. Hook Larry Hookins Oh! I have slipped the surly bonds of EarthAnd danced the skies on laughter-silvered wings;
January 20, 201313 yr Author Thanks that answers it. IBut i think (not sure) that it started in FSX and got moved to Tips and Tricks! I keep my PM's off becuse I rarely get round to reading them. Gerry Howard
January 21, 201313 yr Moderator Gerry, I apologize for moving your post, but as I read it prior to moving it to FSX forum, it didn't really read much like a "tip" as such... ...although on subsequent re-read there really was a "tip" present, albeit only towards the end. There hasn't really been much in the way of genuine "Tips" or "Tricks" posted in the past six months or so, since most "new stuff" is being submitted to the "Tutorials" section of the site. Fr. January 21, 201313 yr Author Bill. Thanks for the explanation. I still think it is a Tip or Trick because, although I was reporting my experience with FSX, I believe it could be applicable to FS9 or indeed any application. After all a shortcut is a shortcut. Gerry Howard
