Hi since you got the fsdt airport cyvr and all of the orbox pnw etc people had been getting ctds when flying with in the cyvr airport etc, what fixed their problem was removing any cyvr bgl files from the orbox pnw folders etc there are 3 of them i only found 2 of them in mine i removed them and it solved my problem and the others as well. its mentioned in the fsdt team forum as well

On my side i removed the ORBX bgl files but not CYVR bgl files. Should i removed CYVR bgl files and replace them by ORBX bgl files?

Best regards

Hi Lamaire, Make sure you've applied the latest patch for the pnw_nrm region. There are four files you can delete located in the pnw_na_pnw05_scenery folder. If you'd like, you can copy and paste each file into a seperate folder if you want to install them back.

The four files are:

1. FTX_PNW_objects_CYVR_PLC.bgl

2. FTX_PNW_objects_CYVR_Delta_PLC.bgl

3. ADE_FTX_PNW_CYVR_Vancouver_Intl_CVX.bgl

4. ADE_FTX_PNW_CYVR_Vancouver_Intl.bgl

These should be the only files you have to remove. Hope that helps.

I installed CYVR above Orbx/FTX scenery in the Scenery Library and maybe that's why I never saw the CTD's or issues like many others have seen. I can see a potential issue if you have FSDT CYVR below Orbx/FTX scenery but I always thought any scenery located above another similar scenery would trump out the lower scenery. But thanks for the info on the files. I will rename those four files too.

Best regards,

Jim

A 3.4 hours flight.(PMDG B738) All was working fine and BANG a CTD on approach....i thought i've had found the problem...FTX was disable (even though i was not flying over and ORBX region). Anyways, i think that's something with my computer components. We got 2 power failures recently. Maybe a part is burned. I'll turned down the sliders a bit and see tomorrow. By the way, i've found that i had two updates for ORBX not installed. They've been installed earlier today. I can't say that it changes nothing because before today i couldn't flight more than an hour an hour 15 minutes with PMDG 737 without having a CDT. Also, this afternoon i flew from Vancouver to Burlington KBVS twice. (Carenado B200) First time with ORBX disable and second time with ORBX unable. No CTD.

Best regards.

By the way, i've found that i had two updates for ORBX not installed.

I figured this was the case as Orbx issues updates quite frequently and they usually fix a lot of bugs found or enhance the product. If you had two power failures that shouldn't affect anything. It's the surges or when the power comes back on and your computer is turned on. You would have had problems with other programs if there was a problem with a shutdown or surge. So, I'm a little confused (normal). Is everything running okay? If you have a CTD after a long flight that tells me your system is overheating. You might want to run a program like RealTemp (Google) and run it at startup. Copy the temps at the startup of FSX then look at them at the end of your flight (or when it CTD's). What component shot up in temperature? Glad you are able to fly the short routes. I usually keep my flights to no longer than 1 hour and maybe that's why I have not had CTD's like everyone else seems to be getting.

Best regards,

Jim

Thanks again Jim.

I've installed Real Temp reader but wondering where i can find the max temp that a component can reach before crashing. There must be a place that i can get that info. Component's parameter or where? I've been working with computer for years and i learn everyday....mostly due to people like you.

A max temp for your CPU should be 95-100C. If it reaches that temp, you computer should shut down until you can get more cooling. I think 60-80C is about right for heavy computing like with FSX but any higher than that you might look into getting more fans or review your system cooling because temperatures constantly at that level may create problems down the road. There's a lot of people who ask this question about temperatures. My recommendation is to look around using Google and ask Google how hot can a i7 cpu get. You can go further by asking Google how hot can my GTX 580 get or how hot your ASUS MB can get. With Real Temps you'll be able to see what your temp was at the beginning of FSX and then what it was at the end. You'll get a lot of links on this subject and a good place to do some of your own research. Make sure you have the latest version. I haven't checked but mine is version 370. I suspect I need to update it.

You're learning a lot from me and I'm learning a heck of a lot from people like you because I like to do a lot of research to help define the problem. Thanks for your nice comments though.

Best regards,

Jim

I've had a 2.1 hours flight over ORBX PNW this evening without CTD (used Carenado B200). Temperatures were all in normal range. I'll try when i have time with the PMDG B737 on a long haul .By the way Jim, i think you got the latest version of RealTemp. Thanks again.

Maybe i've finally found why my computer crashed. First i had 2 updates missing (ORBX) and secondly i put a big fan in front on my computer and i've flown 4.7 hours without any CTD. Thanks to everybody mostly Jim for your assistance.

Is it the same aircraft/scenery? Sounds like your system is unstable. Are you getting the same error as before?

Thanks too Real for the information regarding your name. Pretty neat. Is it pronounced Ree All?

Best regards,

Jim

Just noticed another thing regarding your OS. Your version of Windows 7 is 6.1.7601.2.1.0.256.48. My version of Windows 7 is 6.1.7601.2.1.0.768.3 (my last four are 768.3 and yours is 256.48). Quite a difference. Make sure you have run Windows update.

Jim

No this time i was flying from Munich to Madeira with the Aerosoft Airbus 320 (extended). I'll print the different error reports and compare. Real is pronounced Ray al . (in french, there is an acute accent on the "e" ) and "al" as in alternate).
