January 30, 201313 yr hi everyone . me again. as i know in default goose G21A in fsx, LNG switch control both landing & nav lights. and its nav switch control nothing. is it possible to remove nav in LNG switch, and re-bind nav lights to nav switch? many other aircrafts have the same issues, Dont know why they are designed so and it's weird. pls point me a solution. thanks!
January 30, 201313 yr Im not sure how, but what you want to do if you havent alreay is get a copy (registered paid for copy of FSUIPC) Pete Dowson. Then read the users and advanced users guides. From there you will be able to not only figure out how to do exactly what you want to do here, but also ALMOST anything else. Pete has an awesome website with more information tricks and tips than you can imagine how how to rework systems, buttons, switches, heck you can even re-assign keyboard buttons to do many more FS functions, you can re-adjust trim to be more realistic and say a whole lot slower than the standard default trims in aircraft. If you have a button that can be seen with your control panel on your computer, you can have FSUIPC assign it to do almost anything. Good luck! His website is http://forum.simflight.com/forum/30-fsuipc-support-pete-dowson-modules/ Purchase it here http://www.schiratti.com/dowson.html Respectfully, Jet
January 30, 201313 yr It depends whether the switch code is written in xml or C+. If it's in XML then it's relatively straightforward (correction RPN is "not Straightforward!!) Or you will have to write your own C+ gauge from scratch! Super VC10 into LOWI with PF3 at a cinema near you https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=298UDyNmgUA
January 30, 201313 yr Author OGM, FSUIPC and C+, that would too much for me to reach. As far as I can go is edit *.CFG a little bit. So let it be! Anyway, thanks both of you!
January 30, 201313 yr I added three new lights to the [LIGHTS] section, like this: light.2 = 3, 1.05, -25.1, 4.6, fx_navredh , light.3 = 3, 1.05, 25.1, 4.6, fx_navgreh , light.4 = 3, -28.40, 0.0, 4.8, fx_navwhih , These lights will turn on when you switch on the nav lights. If you turn on the landing lights, the existing lights will light too, but they're in the same place as the ones above so they aren't so noticeable. If you turn on the landing lights and lower the floats, the new landing lights will still be in the same place as if the floats were up, and the normal lights in the floats will move properly with the floats. I don't find this a problem myself. I won't complain if someone posts instructions on how to do it with FSUIPC. Hook Larry Hookins Oh! Only problem is the 'nav_white' don't move with the rudder. Same as strobe, so I add a // in front of those lines. Just in case showing my friend. B) My opinion, Goose is a wonderful plane for traveling along the coast, don't you think? But MS don't make it prefectly. May be in future i will replace in with addon. BTW, is it indeed have 2 landing lights in the middle of wings in both sides? or just my G21A model like this? :rolleyes:
January 31, 201313 yr Only problem is the 'nav_white' don't move with the rudder. I forgot to mention that one. I thought about it after I made the post, but I knew you would probably see it yourself soon enough. In normal flying conditions, I've never noticed the white light not moving, only when I'm on the ground. I've only seen the red and green lights one or two times because I don't do water landings at night and don't use the landing lights for a water landing during the day. When I take a screen shot, the lights are in the correct location, and I don't have a lot of night screen shots. My opinion, Goose is a wonderful plane for traveling along the coast, don't you think? But MS don't make it prefectly. May be in future i will replace in with addon. I have more hours in the Goose than in all the other aircraft in FSX combined, about 1275 hours. I do love that plane, but I had to do a lot of tweaking to get it to fly the way I wanted. There are a lot of pictures of the Goose on the Internet if you do a search, and a lot of videos. This should show you a lot of variations and answer your question about the landing lights in the wings. I just ignore those lights. Hook Larry Hookins Oh! Only pity because there is no seaplane base in China. :lol:

As far as I'm concerned aviation lost its glory when they stopped making radial engines... Simmerhead - Making the virtual skies unsafe since 1987!
January 31, 201313 yr Only pity because there is no seaplane base in China. The nice thing about the Goose is that you don't have to land on water, but it is possible. Care to share these mods in the AVSIM library? I'd need to talk to someone on how to organize them. I had my fingers in a LOT of files for that aircraft. One problem is that I'm using some textures from the freeware OzX Goose, the bump maps and a modified interior plus I removed all the mip maps. The Goose has the sexiest engine sounds in all of FSX. I was surprised at the number of errors in the sound config file, but I got it working. Occasionally have to toggle sound off and back on again after returning to the cockpit from external view, but it works. I've added digital readouts to a lot of the gauges (including one for the altimeter setting and if you click on it it toggles between inches Hg and millibars. Temperatures all toggle between C and F by clicking on them. There's a digital outside air temperature display. The airspeed indicator has an angle of attack readout. I got the fuel pump switch working. I added lights for the instruments and radio that you switch on with the unused taxi light switch. I reworked the HSI to correct the placement of ALL the needles... they were all randomized by a half pixel. I added a VOR needle to the ADF gauge (making it an RMI gauge, I guess) and the ADF needle will swing back and forth when it first picks up a station or you pass over one until it stabilizes. I reworked the cruise lift vs angle of attack curve, and changed the EGT and CHT numbers to give results matching my research. For example, now the CHT will overheat if you push it too hard where before it wouldn't get high enough to be in the green arc on the gauge in cruise. I changed a lot of the contacts positions so the Goose floats correctly, but it makes the floats submerge sometimes. I fixed the water rudder so that it doesn't extend 6 feet below the aircraft, and made it retractable, so you don't suddenly yaw hard right on a water landing. I made a custom beacon to match the Pacific Coastal aircraft pics, and it looks right even if it's turned off. I changed a lot of the weight and balance stuff and set the plane up for pilot/copilot, 6 passengers and 2 aux seats; I use a spreadsheet to calculate balances. The GPS now counts down minutes and seconds when you're less than an hour away from your next waypoint, and I changed the vertical speed readout to read in feet per minute rather than feet per second, rounded to the nearest 50. I added terrain shadowing to the map. That's off the top of my head. Once upon a time I was going to document everything I did, and why, but decided it wouldn't be that popular. Oh yeah...I added some adverse yaw and fixed a problem with the ground steering. And a custom Flight Test gauge with things like range at current fuel and ground speed, density altitude, engine power percent, and a bunch of other stuff. Got any suggestions on what to do with all this, and how to handle the OzX textures? Hook Larry Hookins Oh! I have slipped the surly bonds of EarthAnd danced the skies on laughter-silvered wings;
January 31, 201313 yr Yes, you should stick your mods up on the avsim library. Especially if it makes the a/c more authentic. I've being doing the same for the VC10. The latest update due shortly also contains massive engine mods. Not just sounds but completely new performance specs which in the original model were totally wrong. The Goose has the sexiest engine sounds in all of FSX. Don't tell that to fans of the Lancaster Bomber (4 RR Merlins) or fans of the VC10(4 RR Conways) !!!!! I have no idea how to handle it, but as for the OzX textures I'm sure they could be contacted for inclusion in your freeware package. Simmerhead - Making the virtual skies unsafe since 1987!
February 1, 201313 yr Thanks, simmerhead. I forgot about the custom checklist and reference card replacements, in text format with headers so they show up properly in the kneepad. They're more detailed than the default ones, and a lot more readable. We're looking at over a week's work full time to clean them up and prep them for release, but don't expect them a week from now, as I won't be able to work on it full time. There is one inaccuracy I know of: the service ceiling can be achieved at 1/2 load. At the time I couldn't find documentation anywhere on what the loading was for service ceiling. Since then I've learned that it's based on a minimum load. I can, however, give you a formula to determine your service ceiling at any given load. Hook Larry Hookins Oh!
