Mods Intrusion

Featured Replies

The best way to handle a situation like this is to report the post that says the thread has been moved. State your case calmly and politely. The mods are reasonable people. If you can't manage calm and polite, wait a day; it does wonders.

I agree that FS9 CTD reports shouldn't be in the FSX forum.

Hook

Spot on. I had a issue where a thread got way too political and I really wanted to fire back. Even some of the staff were engaged in a convo that maybe should have been locked. In my case I stopped posting in the thread and was about to do exactly what Hook suggested. Fortunately the thread was handled..

The point is to stay calm and think before posting. We have a saying for certain portions of the company i work for which is "train the customer". In this instance stating your issue and being polite may actually affect change from one or more mods.

I moved several posts relating to CTD's Windows 7/8 to their respective forum. If it relates to problems with Windows 8, it will be moved to the Windows 8 forum. Same with Windows 7 and CTD's. This is where you should be going for support or asking your questions. If you will notice I removed a lot of oversized images too. The AVSIM policy is 1600W and 400KB weight limits. Please read the lastest pinned topic at the top of this forum regarding off-topic discussions. Hardware discussions will likewise be moved if off-topic here. Heck, the answer to your questions or issues may be already posted in one of those forums.

Moving topics and returning topics back happens. It happened a lot especially when I first became a moderator here. Mistakes are made as there is a lot of reading involved and one has to be knowledgeable of the AVSIM policies and other forums within AVSIM. It seems like everytime I move a topic, someone gets upset but, if the topic is off-topic, it's off-topic and it will be moved. I and the other mods try to be fair but that is not always easy. I hope everyone understands.

Some, just a little acknowledgement to take feedback on board would sometimes be worthwhile though Jim, and garner a lot of respect. I have to say that every time something like this comes up, there's more often than not a slightly irritated reply of defensiveness.

Feedback like this is happening for a reason. Communities and forums are successful due to co-operation, mutual respect, and reasonable moderation, not just policies and procedures.

........ let's all remember, this is supposed to be fun, not like you will be stamped on by moderators, of have your discussion waved off elsewhere, as is sometimes the case.

Ok. But if someone is having a CTD problem in FS9 then why move the post out of the FS9 forum? To me that makes no sense. I have FS9 and never go to the FSX forums. Why would I go there to see a resolution to a CTD problem in FS9? Some moderators are just power hungry. I used to frequent another Flightsim forum and was even a paid member. I stopped going to that forum and did not renew my paid membership because of a certain heavy handed moderator. This was years ago and I haven't been back since. I would rather not come to Avsim anymore if I have to wade through FSX forums or others just to solve a problem with FS9.

Okay. We're totally free and only ask that you abide by the rules. If you can't do that, then you probably don't belong here either. This thread is now closed.

And the next time I see someone accuse our moderators of "INTRUDING"... I am going to go postal, so to speak.
