Mods Intrusion

Featured Replies

Anybody notice that Moderators have recently taken an interest in the FS2004 (FS9) Forum.

Today Firehawk44 has moved a number of "off topic" threads into the Crash to Desktop Forum which appears under the MS FSX Forum for goodness sake.

A little notice of these intentions and the establishment of such a dedicated thread, would have been a nice courtesy fellas.

I had a thread recently moved where I commented on how a video card changed my FS9 experience. I posted it here feeling it was more about FS9's transformation vs. the hardware I bought to transform it. So it can happen to any of us, and we just have to roll with the punches. I used to be a mod and sometimes it was a very fine line that made me decide whether to move a post. I stressed too much about my mod duties, that's why I'm a retired mod now.

Ditto.

But I do hope the mods can stop the stupid FSX intrusions into this forum.

It's the FS2004 forum, and it would be great to get FS2004 content here, rather than puerile jibbing about mine is longer than yours.

Wow! Firehawk44 has been busy today. Almost every post is moved to one forum or another.

Unfortunately, giving help to somebody having a CTD with FS2004 won't be easier, to speak mildly, as I don't check the FSX forum (and I don't post there...). I appreciate the help I have got occassionally by FS2004 forum mates when I had CTD problems, which always depended on specific add-on planes or sceneries (which can be regularly discussed within this forum) rather than FS2004 itself.

At least I'd like to ask the moderators - with respect and appreciation for their work - to open a CTD subforum within the FS2004 forum so that we the members can give better help to FS2004 users with CTD problems.

Perhaps someone should check with Firehawk44 and verify that it was Firehawk44 himself who was performing these operations?

Well said, mate. Moving FS9 specific questions into a FSX sub-forum really isn't helpful. A new CTD sub-forum here wouldn't necessarily get much traffic, but how many FS9 simmers look ito the FSX forums? I'm not sure that I've ever been there.

I'll probably be banned for saying it, but Firehawk44 is far too trigger happy to unnecessarily move threads around.

....and I have to say, the 'moved' (and 'locking') of threads is sometimes very questionable IMHO.

For example, sometimes a thread in the FS9 or FSX sections that simply refers to a product name, get's moved to that product's support forum, even if the basis of the thread was nothing to do with a support request.

Sometimes leaving things alone is the best form of management guys...

Something nuts about all this. There is no forum anymore just Firehawk 44

Until this strange and over the top post shifting is sorted ,I will henceforth refrain from any more postings here at AVSIM.

And that is rather sad.

After observing rather bizarre behavior in the FS2004 forum lately, I have come to two conclusions:

Either

1, The forum rules regarding reassignment of postings needs to be re-evaluated and/or returned to its former policy

........Or

2. Firehawk44 has got to find a new hobby.

gwillmot - woozy from all the moves

We had a similar episode over at the X-Plane forum until a few of us spoke up about it. Now we're pretty much left alone unless someone does something blatantly against the rules. Maybe a PM to a senior mod like Spiritflyer is in order.

"No matter how eloquent you are or how solidly and firm you've built your case, you will never win in an argument with an idiot, for he is too stupid to recognize his own defeat." ~Anonymous.

I have seen in the FSX forum a mod move a post then another mod move the recently moved post back to the previous forum.... hard to keep track when everyone uses a different playbook.

No good ever comes from referring to a mods behavior and people able to enjoy either sim should be intelligent enough to understand that. As one poster implied, it sucks to mod and the easy answer is to go find your own forum and they will gladly refund the investment you've made, there are no dues here.

If this is a rant thread, pardon the intrusion. If you want to affect change, you should probably address procedure or policy and not individuals.

The best way to handle a situation like this is to report the post that says the thread has been moved. State your case calmly and politely. The mods are reasonable people. If you can't manage calm and polite, wait a day; it does wonders.

I agree that FS9 CTD reports shouldn't be in the FSX forum.

True words of wisdom. I'm sure nobody intends any harm. It's just an FS forum. The Mods do their best to make these forums a great place for us. If anyone's made a mistake, it was probably just a mistake.

Over 10 years here and AVSIM is still my favourite FS site :-)
