February 1, 201313 yr Hi, I'm gonna start by listing my specs bellow, but I am having issues with performance. Windows 7 Intel® Core™ 2 Duo CPU @ 2.53GHz 4060mb RAM ATI Mobility Radeon HD 4500/5100 series (512mb, GDDR3) CPU load averages 60-70% when running FS9 FS9 uses around 500mb memory, peaking to 3gb total RAM usage As of late, even with all the sliders turned down I am getting under 20fps at default airports. My PC is only about 2-3 years old, and I would assume it could run FS9 quite decently. I have had this issue for a few months now, I don't remember what I was getting before, but I could run pretty high AI at EGLL with FPS above 25 (although I don't usually use AI because of VATSIM flying). If you could assist me in maybe some tweaks I could add into my FS9.cfg (I have already done some, but I'm no expert in that field) or anything else that could be done to increase performance. Help is much appreciated
February 1, 201313 yr I'd try first removing all those tweaks. I mean, delete your fs9.cfg and let FS2004 rebuild it. Try to keep your default display settings (I understand FS9 sets them according to your hardware), but change screen resolution to the one your laptop uses (usually the biggest one you may get) and adjust your AI (FS9 likes to be very conservative). Fly it a little bit and then start moving sliders to the right, one by one. Don't forget to uncheck Antialiasing and setting filtering to Trilinear. And 500 MB RAM usage in FS9? Nothing to worry about, this is normal. Get scared if FS9 itself goes over 1500 Best regards,Luis Hernández Main rig: self built, AMD Ryzen 7 5700X3D (with SMT off and CO -50 mV), 2x16 GB DDR4-3200 RAM, Nvidia RTX 5060Ti 16GB, 256 GB M.2 SSD (OS+apps) + 2x1 TB SATA III SSD (sims) + 1 TB 7200 rpm HDD (storage), ID-Cooling SE-224-XTS air cooler, Viewsonic VX2458-MHD 1920x1080@120-144 Hz (G-sync compatible), Windows 11. February 1, 201313 yr Author Hahaha thanks for the reply Luis I will let it rebuild a new one and start fresh. I have tried that of recent with no considerable improvement, but I'll give it a go again. If there's anything else anyone can suggest that may contribute as well, it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks for the help again Luis!
February 2, 201313 yr Ok firstly try rebuilding the FS9.CFG see if that helps like Luis mentioned above, second check your clouds settings make sure there not set to high. Another thing you may want to consider is defrag the hard drive, but mainly clouds ate the main FPS killers especially if the Super AA is enabled within the ATI catalyst settings. Also make sure to set the FPS to about 30-35 within FS9 Make sure your not running other programs in the backround and make sure aero feature I disabled within windows 7 I'm running fs9 on an intel core 2 duo E7500, ATI 6750 1gb DDR and I get about 40 FPS over addon scenery but mainly keep my FPS at about 32 so I get a steady 32 FPS it only drops when I flyvthroughvthick clouds with Super AA enabled but still holds up pretty well
