i3570K Overclock Question

Featured Replies

Hi All,

I decided to see what I could squeeze out of my i3570K & Asus P8-Z77V Pro. I have so far got it to a stable 4.7GHz using a 47 multiplier & offset voltage of + 0.100

I flew the PMDG 737 NGX on a 5 hour flight and took the picture below of my temps using core temp. The max was 79 degrees celsius. My question is am I OK running at these temperatures. I would like to ideally get to 4.8GHz but I don't want to fry my chip.

Any help would be greatly appreciated

Richard

Great-looking system, Richard, but as she's at the (my) limit of 79 c, it's going to depend on your ability to increase the cooling capacity, or de-lid the proc, per Tech-Guy Max's suggestion here.

What is your present cooling system?

Hi Paul,

I have been pretty happy since I built it a couple of months ago. I have a Kuhler 920 water cooler for my processor. I built this PC specifically for FSX. As I had said the test last night was a 5 hour session and the pics I took were right after I shut down FSX. To be honest I do not really fly too many long haul flights, I generally fly 1 - 2 hours. I just want to make sure as long as those temps stay stable I won't have an issue.

One cooling alternative would be to open my back door and put my PC outside in "Snowmageddon" lol

Hi richard,

Would you mind posting what bios settings you have changed as i have just got that same board and chip, i know i will need to do little tweaks with voltages/offsets etc, ut just so i can get the main changes done.

Thanks.

Hi Paul,

Give me a little while. I am just doing some experimenting with manual overclocking VS letting AI suite perform an extreme auto tune.

I hear you. I am in Brampton, Just got stuck getting off the drive. Dug myself out, drove back on and decided to have some quality FSX time for the rest of the afternoon :)

yh sure richard,

Im just installing my stuff just now, and have ALOT of tweaking to do, so its not going to be for a good few days at least before i think about clocking, just it makes sense posting here as you have the same board and proc, although i only have a hyper 212, the settings(exc voltage, clock and possibly offset will be different)

Thanks dude
