August 23, 200421 yr Hi. can anyone explain why the aircraft that come with FS9 cannot catch the glide scope? You can line aircraft up perfectly with the ILS with the nav radios tuned into the correct freqs but it will never catch the GS. However when you use the add-on aircraft from PSS, Airbus and Dash 8 those aircraft do, why is this?
August 24, 200421 yr Maybe it's out of the scope of those aircraft to catch the glide slope ;-) (PUN INTENDED) Best Wishes,
Randy J. August 24, 200421 yr Actually on a RW 737 NG you can capture it above OR below..Best Wishes,
Randy J. Smith

P M D G's 747-400

coming to a runway near you
Caution! August 24, 200421 yr >You have to try and capture it from below, not above as you>would in real life.Maybe I'm misinterpreting your words but in real life most aircraft capture the glideslope from below to prevent establishing on a false 6 or 9 degree glideslope.
August 24, 200421 yr How do you captue the glide from above, sounds like a pilot that screwed up if he's doing that.
August 24, 200421 yr You can capture from below or above but in MSFS you are better (with default aircraft) to capture from below. Al Stiff

August 24, 200421 yr The air traffic controller's manual states that an aircraft will be vectored onto a precision approach course at an altitude at or below the glideslope. The intent is for the pilot to intercept the glideslope from below. This prevents false glideslope signals usually found above the real glideslope....http://mywebpages.comcast.net/geofa/pages/rxp-pilot.jpg Geofa WANTED DEAD OR ALIVE-the best Flight Sim!

August 24, 200421 yr Author No problems capturing the glide slope here either, with default airliners. In fact, it's a far cry better than the travesty that was the FS2002 autopilot. One other thing to check is your approach weight and airspeed. It's going to be difficult for any autopilot to hold the glide slope if it's heavy with a full fuel load or screaming in at 200+ KIAS. Even a 747-400 has an initial approach speed of about 180 KIAS.http://www.2decker.com/media/solent1-2.JPGAlex ChristoffN562ZBaltimore, MD PowerSpec G426 PC running Windows 11 Pro 64-bit OS, Intel Core i7 11700K @ 3.60GHz 30 °C, 4089MB NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4070 , ASUS TUF Z590-Plus Gaming motherboard, Samsung 870 EVO 2TB SSD, Samsung 750 EVO 500GB SSD, Acer Predator X34 34" curved monitor (external view), RealSim Gear G-1000 avionics suite, RealSim Gear GNS 450, Slavix Stay Level Custom Metal Panel, Honeycomb Alpha Yoke, Redbird Alloy THI, Saitek Combat Rudder Pedals.
