What did MS really mean when...

Featured Replies

Very well said Jake.

It's the same old argument around here all the time. Most of us could care less what people "think" their entitled to do with a piece of software. P3D and FSX are not the same thing, not the same program.

If a developer of a program / addon made for FSX tells you not to use it in P3D then don't do it, simple enough to understand to all the thick heads around here that "think" otherwise, it's really starting to get irritating.

If you choose to go against the developers wishes, do so quietly. Don't come here and be an idiot telling everyone how to do it, and preach that it's ok, because "you" think it is. It's not ok, but some people are too simple minded to see otherwise. If your told not to do, don't do it.

By doing so, condoning such behaviour publicly, your causing problems for Avsim and it's staff. What is it about this issue some of you people don't get? Tom has said repeatedly, such actions won't be allowed / condoned / tolerated, then don't do it, and quit arguing about it, most people around here could care less what you think, or believe to be true. Do what your told, or face the consequences, as a few already have, getting banned from the Avsim forums, more than justified I might add.

If you don't like it, go somewhere else. This is Tom's house, he set's the rules, abide by them or leave. To argue the validity of the rules is pointless, and if people continue to do so, I'll be the first to smile when the door hit's their a**** on the way out, good riddance.

It doesn't matter one bit what MS meant, it only matters what Tom and the staff have to say, it's their house, pretty simple people.

Elephant in the da room time to throw peanuts

If that was directed towards me (?), no, no elephant, just a guy with common sense, and the ability to reason and listen, something that unfortunately can't be said for a few around these forums.

No problem, they'll find their way to the door on their own, or be shown, doesn't really matter how.

I was going to edit it to say EULAphant, but I missed the boat..too busy being bossed around in the garden by the missus..Back to the power washer /groan

EDIT: and I wasn't even really making a stand for or against..I'm ambivalent on the subject..I haven't used P3d in a while as I am not flying much as I'd like these days..

Some will never find the door lol. Think people read word for word its pretty clear what can or cannot be done with software.

Really, then why is it still be questioned, argued and debated today. There's should be no mention / posts concerning the issue, it's a "dead end" issue.

We all know what the rules are here at Avsim, or should by now. What an individual "believes" to be true or just, is moot, it holds no weight, and to be honest, nobody cares, other than those like minded few who like to continually bring it up and cause problems, stir the pot. The only thing that needs to be "believed", is the consequences of the questionable behaviour, as some have already seen. They thought they knew better, could do as they pleased, guess they didn't, did they?

The door will greet them / those pot stirrers someday, and like I said before, the sooner the better for all of us, it's no loss to the greater good of the community.

Thanks for all the replies guys. Like someone mentioned, I think it is geared towards preventing people from making illegal copies of the software. Makes more sense now.

Figure this, better to play it safe with EULA as their are,"no exceptions to the rule regrading fair use!". Taking FSX payware or freeware items and converting to P3d is violation of EULA. The developer gives the green light to allow a conversion is the only time you should actually do it, and other times its a violation of EULA.

They don't need anyone else, or help, their doing a great job already. ^_^ I hope they keep it up, and continue to clean house, that will be a great day for the community, and beneficial to all.

Now that Efrain is a low blow.

How is that a low blow? So people calling others pot stirrers, etc, isn't? If you have a problem with my comment, bimmercop @ gmail . com , feel free to discuss it with me via email or just PM.

Like I said, the thread was going nicely until the name calling and knee grabbing attitude began to flourish. Nobody was questioning AVSIM's posture with regards to EULAs. I was merely just asking what was MS trying to say or prevent, by what they had in FSX's EULA. Funny how I'm quickly singled out while the AVSIM cheerleaders aren't. I'm just sick of all the BS. If you want to ban me, go ahead, I won't lose sleep over it.

Now that Efrain is a low blow.

Not a problem here Stephen, I actually chuckled. I can dish it out, and I can take it. It takes more than that to get me going, he'll have to do a lot better than that.

Honestly Efrain, talking man to man, you know it's a touchy subject around here, why even bring it up. If your that curious, why not ask someone in PM, instead of keeping the fire going on in public. I honestly don't buy your storyline of pure curiosity, but that's just me.

Henri, that's exactly the way it is. Come into my house and do something I don't approve of and you'll be going out on your head. You people have no respect, absolutely none. It's not your place to run, it's yours to enjoy for free, and show some respect for the wishes of the owner, honestly, grow up.

Henri, think about it. Would you allow me to come into your house and do something that you had told me on numerous occasions not to. I didn't think so. And here's the difference, I would respect your decisions, the way you run / do things in your house, it's your house, you make the rules. They may not be the same rules in my house, but they are the rules in yours, so I respect that, and abide by them. Show some respect in Avsims house, follow the rules, and everyone will get along, and there won't be any problems.

Kind of like following the law, right Efrain? The laws have been made very clear around here, abide by them, it's not that difficult. What's going on between Microsoft, LM, or addon developers doesn't matter here, what matters here is following the wishes / laws set out by Avsim. Do what ever you like outside of Avsim, no one really cares. It's what you do here that matters.
