Anyone know the Florida Bridges scenery?

Featured Replies

I installed a Florida Bridges add-on that was created by Joe Watson.Unfortunately, I can see no bridges and the e-mail address in the read-me file is invalid...Has anyone had any luck with adding the missing causeways in the Tampa Bay area?

Bert

Oh, please keep trying...I've been awaiting a replacement for the Chesapeake Bay Bridge; back when I first asked, I seem to remember someone indicating the bridges in the Keys were going to be replaced.I sure hope so. Frankly, flying the Chesapeake area sucks without the bridge.Andrew

I'd love to try the scenery, where did you download it from? I have Joe's florida Landclass files from Avim and they're great; did a searchfor the bridges file but found nothing here.Let me know, if I download it I'll try to help out with the install, etc. or let you know if I have the same problembest,Joel

I wonder why they had it in FS2002 but left it out of FS2004? It is a major US bridge.

Oh, just checked it out and I'm not able top test those locations- but i do have something even better to suggest. I use Tony H.'s various Florida city sceneries, and Joe's bridges would conflict with what Tony has currently done- each of the cities Joe listed has detailed buildings, landscaping and bridges by Tony. You can download them here at Avsim. Great work, even has one for West Palm (but unfortunately the big Singer Island Bridge is still missing).Best,Joel

OK.. found Toni Hiltunen's St. Pete's scenery.I'll try to install.BTW.. did you get any bridges showing up with Joe Watson's files?

Bert

Couldn't try it because they would conflict with Tony's sceneryJoel

OK.... Was out a bit for Francois. Back on line again. What is the problem with the bridges? A folder needs to be made, either in the addon scenery folder or the FS9 base. I Have mine in the FS9Florida Bridges folder. There should be NO texture folder. How have you installed it? And is there a texture folder? There needs to be an entry in the scenery.cfg also. An alternative would be to place all the bgls in the FS9scenerybasescenery folder. This will not require an entry in the scenery.cfg.Joe WatsonLake Placid, Fl

Hi Joe!Is there a chance that the file I am downloading is corrupted?I am getting no visible effect in the Tampa Bay area...are the causeways across the bay included?I attempted to look inside the bgl file to see what textures it is calling, but the TPA_BRG_1_9.bgl file (375 bytes) is not recognised by the bgl to xml converter as a valid bgl file...Yes, I've installed the files per your instructions, but no visible result. Is there an alternate location to download from?

Bert

The reason that it doesn't require textures or a texture folder is that it uses the default textures. Yes the Gandy, The Howard Franklin, and the Courtny Cambell is in the latest pack. Zip name should be FLA_Brg_v31.zip. Thats the last one. There should be a BGL for them in the scenery folder. Should be 4 TPA_ files in the folder.I don't know why but sometimes you have to be almost on top of them before they show. Placing the bgl's in the FS9scenerybasescenery might cure that, not sure though. Toni's scenerys .... as far as I know, Don't conflict with mine. Again.... Not sure of that. I have Toni's Florida sceneries in Florida and have seen no conflict. How ever.... Toni has a unauthordox way of doing scenery. I'm not saying that it's not right, but it can cause problems. My new email address is [email protected]. Be sure to put something in the subject line as to what the email is about. I bounce spam.Joe W.

With Joe's help, I figured it out...The scenery does work, and if you want the Tampa Bay causeways, this is the way to do it.. but, make sure you do not have"Use terrain vector objects" set to zero in the FS9.cfg file...or it all does not work! :-)

Bert

OK.... The cure for this is in the FS9.cfg in the graphics section,There is a line that someone in a forum suggested that you change it. That line is: TERRAIN_USE_VECTOR_OBJECTS=1The change was to "0".... it should be "1". If anyone has these and is having a problem seeing any bridges at all.. This will fix it.Joe W.

Be aware that changing the vector objects setting may get you more autogen objects that have, in the past, been reported to cause some significant slowdowns.Best,Joel
