X-10 orthophotos and real skyscapers

Featured Replies

Made partial skyline for Minneapolis and building WIP St-Paul not 100% accurate but acceptable for free made by me. Xplane 10 with good handlers can put to good use. Got photos from sim heaven just did extrude job with google sketchup.

Nice.

For all the fuss about the 'plausible world' that x plane 10 offers, I've found I quite like adding my own scenery to fill in the world.

Best wishes,

Jess B

:clapping: nice awesome buildings, when will the download linky be available?

The lack of default landmark and particularly airport scenery is a big issue, but at least that is fixable by the user. The question here is, should you have to? The bigger issue is land use. apartment buildings where they don't belong, or none where they do. etc. One can argue correctly that FSX has some of these same issues, but the difference is a 3rd party can correct problems like this with new land class. Unless Austin opens Land use up to developers, what you see is what you get, unless LR fixes the problems with it themselves.

Thanks

Looks pretty good. I think having the community working together as a whole to fill in the gaps with missing airports, scenery, etc would make for a great product. Assuming that it's quality made. I think its possible as I've seen some amazing freeware scenery that I really mistakenly thought was payware.

Great job on your work. You are showing pictures very close to where I work in St. Paul. Question, how do you create and add the buildings into xplane?

http://marginal.org.uk/x-planescenery/tools.html  found it here, just gotta make sure the dll in the right place.  Also, grab overlay editor too to place the object.

The textures just export them as png, but when you export a texture make sure it underlined with  no spaces. stpaul_1.png   Also, get overlay editor to place the object and to check if the textures show up.

So far, just using one texture per object.
