March 13, 201313 yr My experience with "this new version" of FSX Gold is summing up only positive points! Until now I have been able to get allways between 25 and 30 fps, even on dense scenery areas and using an external weather injector, with most settings in FSX set to full right. Patching scenery and aircraft lights, applying the "rain fix", all as per the guide at the top of this forum, and the help provided via PM by Jim, all contributed to the minimum effort I had migrating to FSX DX10, and the outcome is so positive that I wonder how much I've been missing whenever I installed FSX in the past. My only problem now is trying to control myself from deciding to buy a few add-ons (aircraft mostly) that are expensive, too expensive for me, while at the same time I am also mantaining my other (and still preferred simulator - DCS World) and the fact that I am holding my breath for Prepar3d v2... March 13, 201313 yr Agreed. Only -ve points are a number of freeware aircraft that sadly show up without textures under DX10. All the payware aircraft I have are fine, but I do miss unique gems like * HS748 * Chipmunk * Auster AOP-9 * ThunderBird 2 :-) and sometimes revert to DX9 just for the day Cheers Keith ...
March 13, 201313 yr Author I wonder if Flight1's PC-12 and ATR72-500 will work. I have them, from day 1, long ago, but didn't yet try to install them on my new, fresh, FSX Gold DX10... Just posted at their forums asking... March 14, 201313 yr Author hmmm I thought jcomm is "100% X-planized...." ? That guy is weird... he has various alter-ego... :-) Unfortunately, and while I still have some hope that some miracle can happen during the XP10 cycle, I do not really like the way the things are happening on that "front", and I couldn't get accustomed to the limitations of the flight-dynamics model... way too much for what is sold as an ultra-realistic sim... This doesn't mean that it is not a great platform in terms of prospective future, should the required attention be given to those issues...
