Runtime Error R6025 -pure virtual function call

Recommended Posts

Finally decided to give FSX another go (with Acceleration) and have VFR Photographic Scenery Vol 2 UK, plus Vol2 of Airfields and Treescapes but after 5-8 minutes of flying I get The Error page up with:-

"Runtime Error

Program: E\Program...

R6025

-pure virtual funtion call"

The error log shows this:-

I have spent a week trawling the net and other forums for a cure and tried some of the "suggestions" with no luck. My computer specs are:-

Intel i5-2500
MSI 277A-G45 M/B
8GB Ram
Nvidea GeForce GTX550TI
500GB Hybrid SSD Hard drive (main), secondary 500GB HDD,  third backup 320 GB HDD and external SDD of 500GB
OCZ 750 watt PSU
Coolmaster DM-690 case
Logitech Mk260 wireless keyboard and mouse
Windows 7 Home 64bit

I fly mainly in the UK with GA aircraft and have HeliTraffic 2009, TrafficX and a few modified (FS9) Traffic files, has anyone any new ideas??

You need to download and install the AppCrashView - http://www.nirsoft.net/utils/app_crash_view.html and copy and paste the crash report here.

The faulting module was visualfx.dll which is used by FSX to display and run effects in the Effects folder.

The Exception Code 400000015 usually indicates a problem with Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributables. FSX need 2005 w/sp1 and some addons need 2008 and 2010 to run. The latest versions of 2005 and 2008 are located at the following links - http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=26347 and http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=26368.

Here is a description of the runtime error you received (from Visual C++) - http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;125749.

Best regards,

Jim

Jim, when I went to download those apps you suggested, they offered three choices and I was'nt to sure what to select so chose the vcredistx64 ones, was that correct for my setup?

Cheers

No.  FSX is a 32 bit application running in a 64 bit OS environment.  You need the x86 version.

Best regards,

Jim

Well, I thought we've cracked it Jim, flew around the Midlands for an hour in Keith Paine's  Provost T1 sight seeing thinking I owe the man a beer when it froze with the Runtime Error again!!!

It was a vast improvement since I downloaded those correct vcredistx86 versions but something is still amiss. Do you require a report from AppCrashView?

Regards

Nigel

Scan your system for corrupted files - http://pcsupport.about.com/od/toolsofthetrade/ht/sfc-scannow.htm.

I think one of your fsx addons is causing the problem. Which one is difficult to determine but then it could be a corrupted system file so that's why you need to do that first. The HeliTraffic2009.dll is a possibility as there have been some problems reported with this dll. There's a programming error somewhere in one of your addons. It cannot be fsx/acceleration, or the Mooney Bravo or any default aircraft. It could be the AIOptimizerFSX.dll or the InstantSceneryFSX.dll. It could also be the NVIDIA Corporation\3D Vision\nvSCPAPI.dll.

Everything leads to a Microsoft Visual C++ programming error. Like all other Runtime errors, the r6025 error is continually being shown when you try and run a program. The specific reason for this error showing is all down to the way in which your computer will try and use the various "Visual C++ Runtime" features it requires to run the program. C++ is the programming language used to develop most of the applications you will use on Windows, and is therefore a highly important element of any Windows system. Unfortunately, it's often the case that many programs will either become damaged or have some issues which prevent them from properly using the c++ functions they require. To fix this issue, you need to make sure your software is working correctly as well as Windows not having any errors on it.

My suggestion is to disable or uninstall the AI Optimizer, run FSX and see if the problem goes away. If so, that was the problem. If not, then remove Instant Scenery. I do know that Instant Scenery was developed a long time ago and probably in the XP days and updated. I know nothing about the AI Optimizer and that program may well be the problem. Is it optimizing your AI during the flight? Never heard of it.

Best regards,

Jim

Hi Jim, AI Optimiser was a download from Flight1 Store which I never got around to using but I have now un-installed it and also removed the Instant Scenery modules as well. If I need instant Scenery to modify an airport will load them then but can't see the point of having them installed whilst flying. I've used CCleaner to scan and clean plus cleaned the Registry also.

So, flew for 45 minutes and another "RunTime Error" freeze, this time with the following:-

The API.dll is the Application Programming Interface. It puts stuff together in FSX to make fsx work. The 10.1.61637.0 just indicates you have the Acceleration version installed. If you consistently get this error it means you have a stability issue. Could be overclocking, overheating, and memory not properly installed. You never did provide us with an AppCrashView which provides more information into your problem. You can download it here - http://www.nirsoft.net/utils/app_crash_view.html .  It provides me with all the information in your Report.wer.  Most likely you do not have the proper versions of Microsoft Visuals C++ installed or the proper updated versions of Microsoft.net.  I see I gave you all of this information back in Post #2.

Best regards,

Jim

Hi Nigel,

Sorry I missed that Post #5 as I was scrolling through the posts.  Everything appears to be up-to-date on your system.  Not sure about Microsoft.net.  Are you still getting the Runtime Error R6025 -pure virtual function call?

Have you tried disabling the addon scenery VFR Photographic Scenery Vol 2 UK, plus Vol2 of Airfields and Treescapes?  That's simple to do as all you need to do is disable it in the Scenery Library.

There is nothing else I can recommend except to completely uninstall FSX and then reinstall it using the guidance in the following link - http://support.precisionmanuals.com/KB/a87/how-to-uninstall-and-reinstall-fsx.aspx.  Make sure you remove everything as shown in the instructions before reinstalling FSX.

Best regards,

Jim

Hi Jim

Finally cracked it!!  I took note of your advice/doubts over Microsoft.net and downloaded the latest framework which offered to repair my installation. Then went on a 2 1/2 hour flight across-country in JustFlight's Mosquito with no problems.

I was still getting the Runtime Error R6025 -pure virtual function call varying from 15 miutes to 45 minutes flight time before that and have'nt dis-abled any scenery except for Instant Scenery2 but have kept HeliTraffic 2009 which does'nt seem to be causing any problems.

So I owe you a beer, cheers mate and appreciate the help.

Regards

Nigel

Hi Nigel,

That's great news!  I'm always happy to hear one of my suggestions actually works!  Hopefully it won't return.

Best regards,

Jim
