Their next Big Move would be...

starting to support DCS World!

I believe IRIS Simulations, for instance, is already on that boat, but I think of many other excellent 3pds!

I come from the fsx and xplane "Worlds" so, names like "Leading Edge Simulations" LES ( their excellent models for XPlane), PMDG (why not a KC-135 or other tanker / AWACS), A2A Simulations (any WW2 Warbird already produced for FSX), Flight1 (a military version of the B200), etc..., would be great to see in DCS too!

Unlike with Prepar3d, PMDG and probably A2A  wouldn't be restricted in terms of EULA since DCS World is a game, and not a professional trainning platform, although it's roots are in the aviation trainning market, and it's quality and levels of detail and accuracy from flight dynamics to systems modelling are professional!

With the future scenery & graphics platform - EDGE - DCS World will bring additional opportunities for scenery makers (ORBX, etc...)...

DCS World is the most advanced flight dynamics simulation for a PC IMHO.

Investing in this platform and making it grow even bigger and brighter would certainly be welcomed by many who, just like me, decided to dedicate our simming time to something that really gives us back an almost true sensation of flying, like never before on any other sim!

Plus... we know that at least at PMDG there are a few avid DCS users ;-)

Imagine a product with the standards of PMDG, A2A, LES, etc... available for DCS World in just a few months! Would this be impossible? I don't think so, since there are a few freelancers and also a few software houses like IRIS already working with ED. Imagine their PC-21 brought into DCS World!!!!

As of lately, it seems there are a lot of 3pd's coming on board DCS. Seems every week, I'm reading about another new plane in the works. This is all great news, as DCS is a fantastic sim and one I am willing to invest lots of time and money into.

However, most if not all the planes announced are military types. Which is not really a bad thing, since I like air combat too and enjoy the A10, P51 and KA50. The upcoming Huey, is to die for! It would be cool to see someone make a Cessna or Beechcraft for DCS world, as this would draw the attention of the FSX and XP user base to check out DCS world as a flight sim and not just an air combat game. I don't see that happening unless we see more scenery areas like the upcoming Nevada (EDGE) scenery for more parts of the world. other than war zones.

Many of the existing developers from FSX and X-Plane do not have experience with Military planes and weapons systems etc. It would be entering a different world for them. One that they may not have any interest or knowledge in. This may keep them away from it. Still, I hope more do jump in!

There are already, some very interesting and unarmed planes in DCS World which are not flyable, but already have fantastic external models created in the sim. I would love to see someone make a Cockpit for these and assign accurate flight dynamics for any of these. no weapons systems needed so they could just concentrate of the basics. Here is a sampling...

I show these planes as examples of military aircraft already present in the sim, which have close civilian counterparts. These aircraft fit well with in the DCS environment and have many military missions to fly, but also may attract those that want to use DCS world as a flight simulator without the war/air combat stuff. These types of planes could be the bridge for DCS world to go from a military flight sim to a fligt sim that could pull in fans of FSX and XP.

Also, I am not sure if Eagle Dynamics even wants to take DCS World into direct competition with FSX & XP. However, I think the time is right for this and they could make a killing if they did. They are probably happy in their own niche right now.

DCS has the best flight dynamics going and Id rather fly a P51,A10 or any other military plane accurately, than a civil plane with poorly or mediocre implemented flight dynamics.

This is the future I think GO DCS!

DCS stands for Digital Combat Simulator so the main focus is combat. It could be interesting to drag fans from FSX or similar civil sims to make the most out of the outstanding DCS simulation engine and flight modeling. However, that may work for single player not in multiplayer. Generaly speaking, people do not accept getting shot down by fighters while on bombers let alone civil planes. Hosts could restrict type of modules they want to allow on their servers but that would deny the mission the magic touch of DCS and its great potential: Simulation of a true air, land and sea virtual battlefield.

They still can fit into the mission if they have a fighter escort, within a SAM unbrella and tasked to bring the President back home safe :)

Negative, civilian and non combat airplanes has aplicable to DCS:W

DCS stands for “Digital Combat Simulator”. DCS is a world simulation engine permitting the user to operate or direct a growing number of combat and civilian aircraft, ground vehicles and ships, from different historical eras and in different geographical locations. It is a true "sand box" simulation. DCS started with the Ka-50 and A-10C, but has recently grown to also include the P-51D Mustang and, with Combined Arms, a ground command and control tactical warfare component. Future products from The Fighter Collection and Eagle Dynamics in the DCS line are in development and will include third party products for the first time.

A2A Simulations are my favorite developers for FSX/P3D.It would be a "Dream come True" to see them bring their incredible Talent and Beautifully Crafted Warbirds to The DCS Battlefield.

I can only agree!!

However, cockpits & accurate flight models for some of the aircraft already in DCS would also be good!
