Can't say I use the HUD that often but I have used it and didn't experience any problems when I did and I'm also a OpusFSX user.

No problems with opus and the hud on my end either.

When I connect to opus and dynamic head movement, Opus does that little zoom out and repositions the cockpit. I then lose most of the hud lettering

I would gladly trade the HUD for rain as I dont like the HUD in civil aviation. It might be authentic, but I dont like  it much:-)

 

Speaking of rain; how many planes out there supports rain in VC? So far I have discovered and purchased PMDG J41, RealAir Turbine Duke and B60 Duke. For me, rain equals instant buy:-)

I think that will fix your problem, I had some troubles too before I managed to get the view like I wanted it but the controls after pressing the Cameras button in OpusFSX made it quite easy.

There's a fix called rain40.zip that makes the rain effect much better than default, you should give it a try.
