April 13, 201313 yr I find the J41 to be a pleasure to hand fly. Hardly ever utilize the ILS for approaches anymore. Maybe I should give the Carenado aircraft a try. If you love the J41 you'd probably love the Turbine Duke. Higher, faster and well done. Gregg Seipp "A good landing is when you can walk away from the airplane. April 13, 201313 yr Author Thank you for the input everyone. The insight provided has been invaluable and I'll more than likely wait a little bit and work my way "up the ranks", so to speak through some easier to manage turbine aircraft. If you love the J41 you'd probably love the Turbine Duke. Higher, faster and well done. And I'd like to agree here. One of my all time favorites.
April 13, 201313 yr I hadn't flown the J41 in about 6 months and I took it up again yesterday. I have both it and the 737NGX. While I'm still new to the 737, I enjoy flying the J41 substantially more. I don't really know why but, to hazard some guesses: Perhaps, it's being able to see the scenery, (in the NGX it's pretty boring up high). Perhaps it's that the J41 keeps you on your toes (the NGX, flown normally, does so much of the work for you.) It hand-flies like a dream (heck, they both do) but it has a really, really nice feel. The systems, apart from the engines, are a nice bridge from GA to commercial with a complete suite of fully functional NAV gear (the engines require a lot more care than a GA plane). Time will tell if it stays that way. My favorite flight in it is to take a short hop from either KSNA or KSAN, over the water to KSBA (just VOR navigation for that flight...no FMS), coming in over the water and shoot the VOR to Runway 25, turning to the runway down low over the houses. Good times. Gregg Seipp "A good landing is when you can walk away from the airplane. A great landing is when you can reuse it." i9 64GB RAM, GTX-5090
