  1. I too enjoy the Superbug. Simply the best military simulation we have for FSX and probably for flight sims in general (DCS ain't got nothing on this!)
  2. If you want modern fighters, look at the F/A-18E by VRS Simulations. Absolutely amazing representation. Other awesome payware can be found from Milviz. They have a T-38A, F-15E, F-86F to name a few. Aerosoft makes an excellent F-16C as well. For freeware, look at Dino Cattaneo. He makes the best freeware fighters around (F-14D, F-35A/B/C). Dunno about landclass. As for the Gripen, I can't think of anything. However, that product you linked is not worth your money. It's not worth money at all.
  3. People, give the OP a break. Regardless of what you think he should do, exactly what do you expect to accomplish by being a shmuck to him? OP, they haven't given much, but we do know it's on the way and is supposedly using 777-style technology (in terms of graphics and features, that is) and will surely be awesome.
  4. Good shot. What's this about a V2? I wasn't notified!
  5. How come I can't get my sim to look like your last shot?
  6. In order of preference: F-86F F/A-18C/E F-14D F-15C F-105D Su-27 or any of its variants MiG-29 P-51D SR-71 U-2 Did I mention I like military jets?
  7. I really want your Sim Savvy stuff...
  8. A2A's B-17 is excellent. I prefer their P-51 (the faster the better for me) but if you grab the B-17 with Accu-Sim you'll be about a hairbreadth short of the real thing. The sounds, the flight dynamics, the graphics and aircraft management are all excellent. It is incredibly realistic, and if you love the B-17, you'll love A2A's version.
  9. My biggest hopefuls: Milviz F-100 A2A F-104 Accu-Sim (probably what I'm looking forward to the most) QW 787 PMDG 747 v2 Aerosoft F-14A Aerosoft CRJ Razbam/M2M MiG-29 (I simply cannot wait for a good, modern, Russian fighter) ..and any other planes that catch my eye.
  10. Thank you very much for the suggestions, guys! I'll be sure to consider PFPX in the future.
  11. Hi all. I'm trying to add a bit more depth into my flight planning process. I normally use SimRoutes but I was wondering if there was anything better and relatively easy to use. Fuel planning help would be a nice bonus. However, I don't really want to shell out $60 for PFPX, so does anyone have any recommendations for a free flight planner?
  12. If you want the airliners, check out http://precisionmanuals.com/. PMDG does the best of the best work on airliners. However, as someone above mentioned, they are somewhat study-intensive. You can hop in and just fly around, but to actually operate it takes a bit of willpower. If you're an Airbus fan, Aerosoft's Airbus X Extended (aka AXE, Airbus X A320/321) provides an excellent level of graphics and decent systems simulation. They aren't as study-intensive as PMDG's planes are, but have enough layers to keep things interesting. You can find that at http://aerosoft.com If you want some interesting levels of depth added into your aircraft, look at http://a2asimulations.com. They have a module called Accu-Sim that is nothing short of spectacular. http://realairsimulations.com also has an excellent selection of quality GA stuff. Once again, welcome!
  13. Welcome to the Flight Simulation community! Be prepared to spend many hours on your computer engrossed in your new hobby There are thousands of addons for FSX. Some of which are amazing, some of which are those of which we do not speak. First question though, what kind of flying do you like to do? General aviation, airliners, military, etc. This'll help us narrow it down for you.
  14. Great shots! The C-17 is a mighty beast. Just out of curiosity, how exactly did you get to McMurdo? Visiting Antarctica is actually on my bucket list and I have no idea how someone can pay them a visit.
  15. I also read the thread and feel very bad for the poor guy. It was my hope that this thread would have brought awareness to the forum at large and perhaps give people a chance to double-check their actions on a conscious level. Unfortunately for that guy, that didn't happen. Regardless of what he was asking or how he was asking it, those responses were demeaning at best.
  16. I am very glad to see that so many others have given their voice to this. Hopefully we can all continue to keep things nice around here for the future generations.
  17. Gentlemen, keep it civil please. In this topic, something considered rude would be a response like "Okay you need to RTFM for once. Use your brain." Etc.
  18. I do want to clarify something: I wasn't saying that only the flight simmers are "forum bulls". I have played videogames for quite some time and have visited various gaming forums, so I can assure you all that we are far from the worst. My point was that since we're such a tight-knit group of people who like a rather advanced subject, that we shouldn't have the "videogame forum mentality", so to speak, considering what we do is more of a hobby than actual gaming. As for improving the overall "warmth" of the forums, I don't think over-moderation is the answer. Do I think moderators should be less lenient on forum bulls? Absolutely. At the same time, however, we walk a fine line between being free to talk and becoming a police state, as is the case with all forums. Instead of a complete overhaul of how we operate, I suggest we try to move the balance towards the center. Sometimes a guitar needs to be tuned, but completely replacing it isn't always needed. I think this responsibility falls on all of us to keep our forums "warm". If you see something that you think is over top, mention that someone is being impolite. We do this occasionally, but there's always room for improvement.
  19. My argument wasn't focused on the "us vs. them" platform. We are a community as a whole, and as I said, there are enough bad apples to warrant discussion. The "forum bull" is not just limited to old timers, I know that the younger guys can be just as mean, if not more so, than the older guys. As for giving out advice, it's always appreciated by someone. If it doesn't happen to be the guy you were specifically giving the advice to, so be it. I can guarantee you that someone out there has the same problem, will look for advice, see your post, and thank you. Just because they don't quote you in a post and explicitly thank you doesn't mean they're disrespecting you. Granted, the guys who quote over and over again and can never quite get the gist of what the adviser is giving tend to get old. However, my point was that even if they're being a bit long-winded, it doesn't mean that they are doing it on purpose. It's similar to dropping a bunch of coins in the street and they fall out of your hand again when someone else tries to help pick them up (or run away with them, depending on what kind of town you live in). It's not being done on purpose, but it just happens.
  20. I'm serious. I come here every day and hope to see friendly conversations amongst people who share a love for a hobby. Instead, what I find (every day, mind you) are arrogant individuals who have decided that they are better than everyone else and therefore decide to flaunt it in front of the crowd. What I'm trying to say is; I see WAY too many shmucks in this community. This, obviously, does not extend to everyone. The vast majority of people are friendly and helping, but those bad apples are still a problem that needs to be addressed. We are an incredibly small community, so why try to destroy someone who wants to join in the hobby? By doing so, all you do is alienate the rest of us from the perspective of that user, who will go and tell his friends that this place is bad, and the domino effect commences. Frankly, I'm disheartened by what I see. Being direct to someone is fine, but the line between no-nonsense and just being a plain (insert word that rhymes with "tick" here) to people is crossed too often. What causes me more sadness, probably the most of all, is that the majority of us are adults. Some well into their 30's and 40's. Have you not left middle school? Where's the maturity? How would you like it if I told you that you were an idiot because you had an issue with something? Again, this does not apply to everyone, and to those of you who are the kindhearted guys who want to share the love of this hobby to others, thank you. The bad apples, either ship up or ship out. There is no room for guys who are mean to others. Rant over. Yeah, it's direct, but it needed to be said. It really did. Comments welcome. Try not to call out individuals please. And here's a coloful illustration of the domino effect:
  21. Gentlemen, keep it civil. Also, I'm delighted to see that this thread is alive once more. I think some big name developers should take a look at what we have written. B) While we're still adding new stuff, I'd like to mention the B-47.
  22. Congratulations on the release! Everything about it looks great! I really like the Ops Center. One question; does it have shared cockpit capability? If not, don't worry - just curious.
  23. Great shots! What graphic addon(s) do you use?
  24. Happy birthday! The entire flight simulation community appreciates and thanks you for your hard work and dedication. But we don't have anything to give you... so have a :p0504:
  25. These are amazing! What graphic addons do you use?
