AOTD for 4/7/13 - Hanakapi Falls

Featured Replies

This is supposed to be one of the "most breathtaking" of Kauai's waterfalls. It's a good thing we can fly to it, otherwise we would be facing an uphill 4 mile trek through the rainforest.

This is the correct name for this waterfall based on information taken from Geology.com.

Hanakäpï‘ai Falls
Kauai
22.188611 N
159.597778 W

It's not far from Hanakoa falls.  Of course, with the geology of Kauai, that's pretty much the same with all the bigger falls. There are an unbelievable number of them on the island due to the unique topography.

Enjoy.

Thank you.

Rick

I would call this a Helicopter Aerocache:

Very nice scenery. After that thrill, I thought to beach the Icon at Kee and go for a swim.

This was a tough one for me to find.  It took a few passes to finely get it and climb out over the ridge with the stall horn howling.

Forget to put the gear down Luis?

Uh, I got this with the P-51D diving for it then pulling out. This aerocache can be grabbed from maybe 250-400ft away. Then again, I must be 1 of the few nuts around here who goes after everything in a P-51 or F4U.

I used the Avsim Rv-6 to collect this one. After flying around in the 2 mi. radius for too long, I finally saw the marker way below me. I dove down, collected the cache and just barely pulled out before messing up a perfectly good airplane. Sorry, too busy to get screenies.

This makes cache number 290 for me which should be all of them.

Thank you.

That'll mean at least 38 more Friday's that have caches you haven't collected yet.  Good luck.

Thank you.
