April 14, 201313 yr I've recently got back into simming and already have purchased an addon or two, but now looking to upgrade the visuals. I am looking at installing REX for FS9. Would people say this is a worthwhile investment? Are there better similar products out there? What is the flight planner like, is it good? Also while i can run FS9 and the iFly 737NG smoothly (25fps) at the minute with default weather, i would like to know if REX would give me a framerate hit! Sorry for lots of questions! James Bennett
April 14, 201313 yr In one single word - YES... Do a quick search and you will see the rave reviews. It takes FS9 to an entirely different level. You will not have any regrets... Ian
April 14, 201313 yr Author Thanks for the quick response Ian. Does it have in built settings to tweak performance? James Bennett
April 14, 201313 yr I concur. REX is one of the better add-ons I've bought. I don't use it's built-in flight planner or weather apparatus, only its textures. But clouds (of all types) and water look much, much better than with default MS textures.

April 14, 201313 yr REX is essential for its textures alone. One can adjust cloud and water resolutions as well as enable/disable REX texture categories, though with typical settings, REX does not significantly decrease performance. I do not use the REX flight planner (I create my own routes using SkyVector or use Real-World Flight Plan Database routes).
April 14, 201313 yr Author Thanks for all your responses guys. Looks like i will be purchasing it then! James Bennett
April 14, 201313 yr Author Well i am download REX as we speak. I bought it from simMarket but the download is incredibly slow... Checked my broadband speed at 19mbit/s and their server load says only 30%... James Bennett
April 14, 201313 yr Author Doesn't look like i'll get to see it today, simMarket's downloads seem to be capped at 45KB/sec which means this download will take 5.5 hours! Looking forward to it though. I am beginning to remember how expensive this hobby is, i used to fly on FS9 a good 7 years ago quite often but then stopped until just this February. It's addictive lol. James Bennett
April 14, 201313 yr Im running FSX, but I can tell ya that it really makes a difference in FSX, so I would imagine that you would be pleased with having it running in FS9. That baby can really render!
