Why in the world they don't separate this two options beats me, it's common sense. Seeing deer in my home airport is just ridiculous and for this reason only I don't have it enabled.

The birds effects on the other hand, are awesome!

Perhaps not.

I was on final approach to Detroit one morning (RW) and had to go around because of deer on the runway.

the birds are amazing and simulated well but those damn deer  when does hunting season start in xp10? :Just Kidding: :LMAO:

In 9.7 I used that option because I liked the birds. Used an add on invisible deer texture and they went back to the woods. Do a search at the org. Maybe it works with X too.

a few mins ago I received a 5 day suspension on the .org for posting a large pic :(   crossing the mods off my Christmas list and adding them to my sit list :P

I leave it on for the birds to. A collegue of mine posted a video not to long ago showing him suffering a bird strike on takeoff from Reykjavik in a C337. The deer are just. Stupid though.

Off, because of the deer. It's not that having deer show up is stupid, it's that they can appear at any airport with equal chance. Like the sim starting a 747 off on a grass field or helipad, it doesn't seem to take into account airfield type or size when putting deer in

Yes it does. Downloaded it some days ago and it works fine. Have the option enabled now and was hit by birdstrike yesterday ;)

It's called "deer removal" and is a small png file. Easy to install.

I was on a flight from KROC (Rochester NY) to KMCO (Orlando FL) 2 days before X-Mas and the aircraft pulls up to the gate, a flood turns on near the nose-wheel and several FAA, NTSB and US Air maintenance vehicles pull up and inspect the front of the aircraft for the better part of 2 hours. Then a bucket front end loader pulls up and they scoop a deer into the bucket. Apparently, the aircraft hit one on the runway during roll out and wrapped it's neck around the landing gear strut and dragged the thing into the terminal. 3 hours after pulling in (2 of which were inspection) and we departed for good old Orlando.

Maybe they could use the FAA Airport guide or similar publications to determine which airports have deer issues (they do have a part of the airport description that tells of bird and deer in vicinity of airport). I believe AirNav.com has this information also for airport details.
