April 23, 201313 yr I have my nav source to FMS1, but I selected VOR1 and VOR2 to display on the main panel, but instead it keeps showing the countdown to the next FMS1 waypoint. Why doesn't VOR1 and 2 show under DME1/2 and count down to NM remaining?
April 23, 201313 yr I can't get any ADF needle on FO's PFD, neither from ADF 1 or 2, the symbols are displayed on the lower part of PFD but no needle? It also sometimes happens with VOR's on both sides some times they work, sometimes not? I've tried everything...but without the manuals/FCOM it's hard to determine if it's me or a bug? Makes raw-data flying not enjoyable  Kind regardsR.G
April 23, 201313 yr Hi guys, You can see in this screen I have a VOR dialed in to VOR 1 and an NDB dialed in to ADF 2. Select VOR 1 on the left and ADF 2 on the right below the FMS (Circled), and you will see the pointer for the VOR in white (circled) and ADF 2 in green (circled). You'll notice I'm also still using the FMS 1 flight plan, and on the ND you can see that shows my FMS DME. So, you can still have and use all three at the same time. Regards,Kyle
April 23, 201313 yr Author Right, but why does the ND still show the FMS countdown when right above the DME number it says VOR1?
April 23, 201313 yr Right, but why does the ND still show the FMS countdown when right above the DME number it says VOR1? That's a good question, and not something I know though. But, I wanted to point out that not all was lost since you have both the bearing lines and DME's for VOR 1/ADF 1 and VOR 2/ADF 2 on your PFD. Regards,Kyle
April 23, 201313 yr Author Thanks for the help. Yeah sometimes I see the miles countdown on the ND and get confused, forgetting I should be getting ready to descend soon.
April 24, 201313 yr Thinking about this, it is perhaps a bug in the sense that it is incorrect to refer to the distance to the next FMS waypoint as DME... DME1 is the value to the next VOR/DME tuned to NAV1 radio. So the DME1 value displayed on the ND on the lower left should indeed be the DME to the VOR tuned on NAV1. Just watched the Q400 jump seat video on youtuvbe, in 720p HD. This confirms what I wrote above, at least to an extent. The DME1 value is not the same as the distance to next waypoint on FMS value...
