April 23, 201313 yr Has anyone exprience a bried 1-2 second leg when touching down ( landing) at an ANY payware scenerey airport? For me it happens randomly, sometimes it does, sometimes it doesn't. It happened with me today with PMDG 747-400F at a payware Santa Maria Airport (LPAZ) It didnt happend when landing on the same aiport with PMDG MD-11 and Level D 767.
April 23, 201313 yr Commercial Member Frame rates on most computers take a hit when a skidmark is created upon landing. To my knowledge nobody has tested to see is harder landings create more lag than greased landings do, but they might. It's more noticable at payware airports because of the increased load on the processor to render more scenery than a default airport. To correct the lag issue, rename your fx_skidmark.fx (located in the FSX\Effects folder) to something akin to fx_skidmark-Original.fx and you will most certainly experience better frame rates upon landing. You won't get a skidmark on the runway either, but I don't know anyone who is actually looking for that. Also, turning off AA just before landing will help if you're still suffering lag. Hope this helps. Dave Hodges System Specs: I9-13900KF, NVIDIA 4070TI, Quest 3, Multiple Displays, Lots of TERRIFIC friends, 3 cats, and a wonderfully stubborn wife.

April 23, 201313 yr Commercial Member The FSX infiltrators strike again! We definitely need a tighter border policy. LOL. I'm so very sorry lads. You know, these days I usually just read the posts from the main page, and I often forget to check to see what forum they're posted in. Again, my apologies.... the response was good for a chuckle though. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I was able to figure out the problem. The lag you're experiencing is actually that brief pause (often coupled with silence, bewilderment, and that "dazed" look anyone with teenagers has seen when they ask them a question for which the answer is sure to result in them being grounded... pun intended) occurs in moments when you hit the runway hard enough for the plane to bounce back into the air and frames to buckle. Dave Hodges System Specs: I9-13900KF, NVIDIA 4070TI, Quest 3, Multiple Displays, Lots of TERRIFIC friends, 3 cats, and a wonderfully stubborn wife.
April 23, 201313 yr Sometimes there can be a lag on touchdown as the sound files for the rollout etc are loaded. Also, a the point of touchdown, all sorts of code in complex aircraft is likely to get activated as the "sim on ground" flag is set. The combination can cause a stutter... PS. I thiink there is a skidmark effect in FS9 too. Geoff
April 23, 201313 yr Sounds like you may have your antialiasing settings too high. What AA IQ settings are you using? ___________________________________________________________________________________ Zachary Waddell -- Caravan Driver -- Facebook: http://www.facebook.com/zwaddell Avsim ToS Avsim Screenshot Rules
April 23, 201313 yr 8x but My computer can handle it though, and the lag happens not all the time, only sometimes
April 23, 201313 yr 8x but My computer can handle it though, and the lag happens not all the time, only sometimes 8x what? S? QS? What transparency settings? There's something your computer can't handle. Let's start with AA. I had the same issue when running particular transparency settings. ___________________________________________________________________________________ Zachary Waddell -- Caravan Driver -- Facebook: http://www.facebook.com/zwaddell Avsim ToS Avsim Screenshot Rules
April 23, 201313 yr I have a Toshiba Qosmio X505 laptop with 18.4 inch screen at 1920x1080, 1TB Hard Drive, Nvidia GTS360M, I7 quad qore and 8GB RAM. Running FS 9.1 I used Nick's Nvidia inspector and his settings. I do not have a transparancy set, and my AAis 8x Multisampled. The reason I Say my computer can handle it is because at FPS intensive airports the lag does not happen where as in non FPS intensive airports the lag occasionally can happen and vice versa. Its really random
April 23, 201313 yr Commercial Member I'm with Geoff on this, the touchdown and ground roll sound is likely causing the issue on your system. Rob Prest
April 23, 201313 yr Commercial Member If you are using the 744F the RB211 super pack is the best option, unfortunately it was lost in the Avsim hack, however a google search should bring it up. Rob Prest
April 23, 201313 yr Actually i am Using MD-11F thats where the lag happened, the 747, there was no lag. I flew it to the same airport where lag happened and it was smooth as butter. THe lag happened with default PMDG MD-11/F soundset, so I switched it to the Turbine sound studios MD-11 sounds. Hopefully it will fix the issue
