Crash to Desktop on Full Screen

Featured Replies

Hi Folks.

Does anybody know why on my FS2004, when I hit the full screen option, the cursor turns black and within 5 seconds the whole sim crashes to Desktop.

Thanks

John

Yes Sir Win 7

I, and many others have found full screen to be very unreliable with windows7, especially with addon payware aircraft. I now run in windowed mode.

But you can try the following:

right click the FS9.exe icon and tick "disable visual themes" and "disable desktop composition".

It may help or it may not with your full screen problem, in which case you should change to windowed mode.

I'm running Win7 full screen with no problem.  Payware aircrafts, sceneires, etc.  The only way I can make my FS9 ctd is by unchecking the "render to texture" box in the FS9 display menu.  Maybe you can have a look there and check it if it's not enabled.

Groovin. I don't have Render to Texture in FS9

Hi Fautley,

You should have it.  Settings-->Display-->Hardware.  First one with a check box on the right side of the menu just above Transform and LIghting.

You do !

It is in one of the FS9 display settings tabs. It should be "checked"

Thanks guys. I found it, and have done the suggestions, you all mention above but unfortunately, I still have the same problem. I just dare not click on Full Screen.

Thanks anyways

John

Same story with my setup. I have got used to windowed mode now. You can change a FS9 setting to hide the menu bar, and in a windows setting to auto hide the task bar.

Maybe I missed something in this thread, but why should it be checked?  I've never had it checked and all has been fine for years.
