Official Announcement.....

DUXFORD, UK, June 16th, 2014 – The Fighter Collection and Eagle Dynamics will release DCS: Fw190 D-9 Dora as a digital download in August 2014

The Focke-Wulf Fw 190 is widely regarded as Germany's best fighter aircraft of World War II. Its appearance in the skies over France in August 1941 was a rude shock to the Allies, as it was clearly superior to any other plane. For nearly a year, the Fw 190 was the unmatched champion of the air war in Europe. The Fw 190 had speed and high altitude performance as its two great assets.

The development of advanced allied fighters resulted in the Fw 190 D–9 variant which first saw service in September 1944. This variant had a larger nose that housed a more powerful Junkers Jumo engine that produced 2,100 hp with the MW-50 boost system. The D-9 was designed for high altitude aerial combat and is a worthy adversary to the P-51D Mustang.

How this relates to DCS: WW II backers…

This pre purchase is targeted towards non-DCS: WW II backers. Although we are still tuning the rewards program, any backer contributing $40 or more will get the Dora as part of their rewards. Backers will get their keys prior the Dora release.

In the July update, I hope to have a clear explanation of the changes coming to the reward system.

As a pre purchase, this only provides a key; it does not make the aircraft available to fly prior to the August release date. The sole advantage of doing the pre purchase for non-DCS: WW II backers is the 20% discount.

Thanks

Given the outcome of the initial project, I don't think you lost anything that special, and ED will, in cooperation with 3pds, release the ww2 birds and not only !

We will also soon have the Nevada scenery!!!

Occasionally we see a topic about "What are you looking forward to?"

On the FSX and P3D front there may be a couple things, but it's DCS I really have my eyes on.  Give me EDGE with DX11 and SLI, and 2 good video cards to match, and I can really see DCS becoming my go-to sim of choice over everything else.  I have DCS on the back burner for right now, and it's a bit intimidating to get back into it because I'll have to re-learn everything, including the finger-memory of all the buttons on my Warthog controllers--after a long absence, I'm all thumbs with them.

I'm holding on P3D for now. My FSX is running smooth and pretty in DX10 - I have no complaints. And yes DCS is what I am looking forward to the most. Nevada will be great, but I am most excited about a WWII map.
