No opinion, adi - it's a great setup, quite perfect - but that 2500K cries out to be overclocked. It's an easy process, provided you have some decent air - or better - water cooling, and BP=0 is perfect for the moment. If you were to clock up to 4.8 or 5, (which I would) you would need a water system, but that's pretty easy, too, as there are lots available and not too expensive. There are three sets of "K" settings here, if you want some examples of proc configs.

Yep. I'm currently on my a temp rig which has an intel h77 itx board so it's not capable of OC'ing that K. My new mobo is awaiting it's water block to arrive. I'm doing a custom water cooling project you can check @ http://www.overclock.net/t/1305945/build-log-the-define-project/0_20

The K will be clocked high ofc, hopefully 4.8 without much hassle (this msi board is absolutely beast overclocker). Same for the gpu and mobo to help stabilize that OC a tad bit more. :)

I'll leave it @ BP=0 then. Thanks. :)

Hi,

this is rather an older Topic, but think SweetFX still something that is being used by many users.

I have got a real lousy Problem with the SeetFX and Steve's DX10 Fixer.

The fixer I installed (latest 1.4) and thereafter SweetFX (SweetFX Folder + the files all into the FSX root Folder). When running FSX, the DX10 preview button is gone and Looks like FSX runs in DX9 mode then only. When uninstalling SweetFX files, DX10 mode is active again.

Couldn't find this Problem in Forums anywhere, Looks like it works perfectly on other Systems.

I use NVIDIA780Ti and have Win 8.1 installed, one of the latest NVIDIA Drivers, i7 2700k.

Maybe anyone has a solution?

Best regards,

Axel

After searching everywhere, I come back to the forum which I learned the most from.

I'm trying to use sweetfx, on directx10. But when I launch fsx, Sweetfx doesn't work, and I don't have the option/checkbox to enable directx10.

I have to add that is forced sweetfx in directx10 mode by not copying the dll files meant for directx9 (never typed that word so often as now). Cause when I enable sweetfx in directx9 mode... The brightness gets increased ridiculously...which looks ugly..

axel, do,you also have the same things like I do?

ps: I did aply the directx10 fixes

Hi,

yes, looks like I have the same issue. Steve's fixer is installed and I copied all necessary files from the Guru website (unzipped) into the FSX root folder.

DX10 preview box is no more available. I also deleted the dx9 files but still same problem. Don't jnow why it does not work for me and for you but with so many people it's ok.

Hope anyone has a tip for us :)

Hi,

in DX9 it works, but when trying DX10 (via Steve's fix it does not work. And this is the Problem I have. DX10 is just disabled.

Brgds,

Axel

So you actually see the nice colours? Cause for me, I just get an extreme increase in brightness when I press scrollock

Here's a doc which may help with the installation.

All the Best,

Thanks Paul, will look at this later today, maybe it's a conflict there with older files.

Brgds,

Axel

Hi Paul,

I followed your steps and I am sure did all right. Double checked. Still the same result. The FSX loads in DX9 mode (recognize this because in the selection menu the preview pic is without any AA) Also again the DX10 preview button is not there.

I looked that the 3d9.dll and enbseries.ini is off. Maybe anything else that can conflict? The g3d.dll and g2d.dll?

That is really frustrating because I would like to have graphics that are similar to the ENB. :(

Best,

Axel

Update your DX10 version.

A couple of issues arose over the last month or so, one being SweetFX and DX10 exiting with an "Unable to load…" error - and the fix was to go to Microsoft and download the latest version of the DX10 runtime. Microsoft DirectX is included as an integral part in Windows operating systems, and you can update DirectX by applying the latest service pack or other updates through Windows Update.

@axel another quick question. Do you perhaps also run windows 8/8.1 ?.

@paul I have directx11 ...so 10 should be up to date right?

Never assume anything, Victor,  :fool:   but, if it's working - per your post #36 - your DX10 is up to date.

Hi,

yes, I have also Windows 8.1 installed so the DX10 must be up to date, by the way, there is no new update available in windows update. But why is the DX10 preview gone? Maybe conflict with Win8.1?

Brgds,

Axel
