May 10, 201313 yr I think most of the problem with variable visual quality is not with the MSE boffins, but rather with the quality of the available satellite photos at the time. Was your Iowa perhaps a 1.0 file and not 2.0?? Agreed, this is all down to the availability of quality imagery. Among other things, it looks like most of what I've flown over in Wisconsin was made early morning, creating more distinct shadow detail and warmer, more pleasing colors. While you can be picky and say the shadows are wrong for evening flight, it does help the ground detail pop. And yes, I just added Iowa and it is 2.0. Scott
May 11, 201313 yr Do you use "Shade"?? I use it a lot and it really makes things look better too. Dan George (woodhick)Check out Greenbrier Aero Club, the VA for and about the GA pilot.
May 11, 201313 yr Do you use "Shade"?? I use it a lot and it really makes things look better too. No, I don't. I looked at it some time back, but don't remember why I decided against trying it. Scott
May 11, 201313 yr It can be confusing at first. I think a lot of guys tweak it more than necessary, but it sure helps the shadows in MSE, IMHO. Just a passing comment/observation. Dan George (woodhick)Check out Greenbrier Aero Club, the VA for and about the GA pilot.
May 11, 201313 yr I appreciate the comments, Dan. As I recall, it's certainly inexpensive enough to make a trial fairly painless. Scott
May 11, 201313 yr I seem to think there is some sort of quick start guide. Don't get into complicated tweaking at first. Some guys don't like the program. Dan George (woodhick)Check out Greenbrier Aero Club, the VA for and about the GA pilot.
October 10, 201411 yr You guys need to check out scenProc. It allows you to create AGN out of .shp files. You need to find .shp files with polys and points for terrain vegetation and building footprints. If you find the data, then you should definitely teach yourself how to use scenProc.
October 10, 201411 yr Author Interesting. More labor intensive than what I'm looking for. Actually, at this point I'm no longer looking for a solution as I've decided to go with P3D and ORBX Global. Just need some land class for NA and I'll be set.
October 13, 201411 yr Commercial Member scenProc seems to be along the correct lines, but its still going to take some work to get things looking nice, and a whole lot of time. There are autogen add-ons like Nuvecta and OpenVFR which will add some autogen to photographic scenery.
