q400 and opus...stuttering

Featured Replies

Hi

Loving the q400 and also loving opus but recently not loving them together too much...seems like the dhm in opus might be connected to some stuttering and strange shaking that occurs with the q400. I've seen a few reports of this so I'm thinking I'm not the only one. I'm guessing that this is because of the interaction between opus and the custom fde that runs outside fsx. It seems to show up most on approach / landing and is there regardless of "bump aircraft" on/off and regardless of "turbulence" on/off settings. I realize that this could be needing adjustment on the opus end as much as here but wanted to check and see if Majestic was aware of this and whether communication with opus could be helpful. I'll also note it with Opus in their forum.

Any thoughts on this?

As an user of Opus, I am experiencing some serious stutters and jumping FPS too. I am absolutely not sure if the stuttering is related to Opus, since turning off DHM doesn't have any effect on the stutters.

I have my frames set to unlimited and the Nvidia Inspector limits the frames to 30 externally. All of my other high quality payware aircraft addons don't have any problems with this set up, but the external FDE engine of the MJC Q400 could be a factor here... I absolutely love this plane, but especially during taxiing, take offs and landings this phenomenon shows up heftily and can get really annoying.

Hi,

I got occasional 'jumps' when using OPUS Camera with the Q400 too, but I resolved them by setting up a custom VC camera view in OPUS (and assigning it as the default camera for the Q400), and I also assigned a Hot Key.

Now, when I load the Q400, I initially sometimes get some 'stutter jumps', but after I press the OPUS Hot Key for that new view ......... Voila! ...... the 'jumps' disappear.

Worth a try.

This has gotten so bad for me that I'm going to have to give one or the other up for the time being! I'm re-installing Ezedok to see if that makes any difference. The stuttering has become so bad I can't fly, it's fine on the ground and once I'm cruising at altitude, but after takeoff, climb, approach and landing are just impossible to live with. Will report back if ezdok makes a diff.

So in your last video (Alaska VA) you weren't using Opus at all?

I'm not seeing any of these issues with Opus, and DHM works OK with the Dash for me. I have found that Opus and Accufeel sometimes don't work well together; could that interaction be a factor?

Yes I was, flying in the US, this morning I set up at London City and when I took off it was just un-flyable. I am now in the process of a complete re-install!

When I take off from EGLC, the stuttering and the jumping FPS are really bad, probably due to the dense autogen and scenery. I am using Aerosoft's EGLC and the stock London scenery with scenery and autogen sliders set to dense. Once at cruise flight level (I did a flight for Intercity VA yesterday from EGLC to EIDW), performance gets steady and nice. Do you hav you frame rate locked inside FSX?

Yes, frames locked, this is driving me nuts. I'm re-installing everything from the ground up, except win7, probably take me 3 days! If this does 't work I'll shelve the dash until it's sorted. And here's a thought, when I made that vid I was using 1.05!

Reinstalling from the scratch can be really annoying and frustrating! I hope that this will improve your performance! Interesting that you have similar problems with a locked frame rate. It's worth mentioning that when I do short test flights without any ACARS software recording, my frames are much better and stable, even with Opus enabled.

Have the same problem.

Disappeared as soon I disabled DHM in Opus.

I think it's related to the turbolence factor of Opus but im not sure

Im guessing it's related to the custom FDE..

Running 30 frames locked and steady, with the corresponding settings in the control panel for the MJC:

So hard to live without the DHM :/

Hmm...interesting. I think I'll try some more testing tomorrow on this. Ugh...DHM adds so much to the immersion.

Dev's are you aware of this issue? Any help on it would be really appreciated!

The stuttering / jerky movement of the plane is less obvious when the weather is fair,

Thus I think its realted to turbulence :)

I have tried to write about it a couple of time, but havent had the time to confirm wether the issue was related to opus DHM or not

I selected "Light Aircraft" in DHM settings, and all is good.

Have that checked too..

I do have the more turbulence function enabled.. What is your Opus version
