May 14, 201313 yr I have been somewhat concerned because of the lack of new screenshots of FTX Global. That was until a few days ago. There are now many new screenshots of the upcoming product that have hit the new screenshots page within the last few days. I am so blow away from what I am seeing. http://www.orbxsystems.com/forum/forum/7-preview-screenshots-and-videos/
May 14, 201313 yr Saw those too. Looks pretty spectacular. Switzerland and the alps is phenomenal. Just a little confused on what base pack really includes and the plus. The whole thing is $200 to get it all. $99 for base from what I understand. CYVR LSZH I7-14700k 64gb 6000Mhz DDR5 ASUS z690 ROG STRIX Gaming RTX 4080 Super,

May 14, 201313 yr Whilst some of the pics are awsome; I'd observe that;- - France looks nothing special at all; not that different to the default textures IMHO. - The Baltic States (Riga) shots, which also are supposed to demonstrate the LC/coastlines bit, again aren't impressive IMHO; square coastlines still very evident. But I'm just balancing my observations........ many of the pics are awesome, and I'm sure I'll buy it.
May 18, 201313 yr It's all very generic, of course, which is to be expected with one texture addon set for the entire world. I happen to like the FTX-look so I will like this addon but I don't expect France to look like France or Norway to look like Norway. I simply want the default places to look a bit better and FTX Global certainly makes everything look a bit better so I am in. I reinstalled my PC today and I will wait for FTX Global and not install any other scenery addons for now.

There won't be a Plus pack subscription or something like that. Instead everything that will be added to FTX Global (apart from bug fixes I guess) will have to be bought seperately. There also will be a landclass product called OpenLC which will give you OMS bases LC for the entire world. It will cost AUD 20. Keeping FTX Global up to date with all additions will cost you a LOT of money...! I think I will only get the base package and OpenLC. I am done with all those scenery addons...
May 18, 201313 yr - The Baltic States (Riga) shots, which also are supposed to demonstrate the LC/coastlines bit, again aren't impressive IMHO; square coastlines still very evident. Yeah, I really wonder how much their OpenLC product will improve rivers and shorelines. Where data is available, I'm sure it will help immensely with the appropriateness of autogen and the quality of road placement, but I wouldn't expect miracles on coasts. This (FTX Global) is an interesting product, but it sure seems like expectations are being set so high that many people are going to be disappointed. From the screenshots it looks like the textures will give a better overall look to most places (especially if you're used to and like the Orbx "look"), but they still aren't going to make an area look "real", in the sense that you'll recognize it from the air if you're familiar with it, or that it will replace and make obsolete Orbx regions or other detailed scenery, and that seems to be what some people are expecting. May 18, 201313 yr A very strange observation I have made is that, if you have Orbx Australia installed, and leave it activated in FTX Control, then fly in Europe, Africa or Asia, the textures look very similar to some of the FTX Global shots!
May 18, 201313 yr A very strange observation I have made is that, if you have Orbx Australia installed, and leave it activated in FTX Control, then fly in Europe, Africa or Asia, the textures look very similar to some of the FTX Global shots! I think this is the flip-side of a potential issue with FTX Global and Orbx regions. As things stand, if you have FTX Global installed, you'll have to set FTX Central to Default. In other words, you won't be able to fly seamlessly out of an Orbx region and into "Global". No big deal for Australia/NZ, but not good for NA and Europe. The last I read, (someone update if there's newer info) they're hoping to correct this before release, but may not. Scott
May 22, 201313 yr Author That's old news: plans have changed. That is information that I wasn't aware of. Thanks for calling this to our attention. I am very interested in this product, but being the cautious kind of guy that I am, I will likely wait a month or so after release to see what the Flight Sim community reaction is.
May 30, 201313 yr A very strange observation I have made is that, if you have Orbx Australia installed, and leave it activated in FTX Control, then fly in Europe, Africa or Asia, the textures look very similar to some of the FTX Global shots! I've had this issue - when flying in default non-orbx areas they looked all right and for some time I thought the default really isn't that bad not that different from Orbx and thought the difference is over hyped, but then I realized that my default textures were most likely being replaced by FTX textures in some areas.
