May 31, 201313 yr When you go to the Start Menu and go to 'Documents' at the top right, can you navigate to the Flight Simulator Files folder? If not, your My Documents folder is in the 'wrong' place. It may be a hidden folder by default (I can't recall) so set Explorer to show hidden files and folders if you don't find it. Have a look in the registry and see where FS9 is noted as being located there. (In the (Start Menu) Run box, type: C:\Windows\regedit.exe and then 'OK'. That will open the registry. Make a System Restore Point first. Press Control+F on the keyboard to start the search and enter FS2004 (or FS9 if you installed it with that name). Make sure all three boxes are ticked, Keys, Values, Data and then see what you find. F3 will locate the next instance each time. Does the registry have the same path for FS2004 as the true installation path? Did you fully uninstall FS before you reinstalled it? If you did, I don't see why the registry repair tool can't find the exe file. If you didn't, then uninstall again using CD1 and reinstall. (Did you try the Repair option you should get when you insert the FS2004 CD1?). If that doesn't work, then I would go through the registry and after uninstalling FS9 again (use CD1 to uninstall it, as I say), manually delete every registry key (left-hand pane) and value (in the right-hand pane) you find of the phrases FS2004, FS9 and Flight Simulator (three goes, one for each name: make sure you put the cursor back to the top of the registry tree for each search) - create a System Restore Point first of course, just in case you delete something else by mistake. When the registry can't find any reference to these terms at all, reinstall FS9 and then try the F1 registry tool again and start FS9 from the exe file. Martin Stebbing, EGLF (UK)
May 31, 201313 yr If you still cannot locate folders, cfg, etc., use the windows Search, example type in fs9.cfg, if its there it will find it. Make sure you search in Computer, this will search every installed folder on your drive. I have cured many faults using Search, its also very good for finding duplicates etc. With apologies if I am preaching to the converted!! Echofox
June 2, 201313 yr OK Martin; 1. I can navigate to the FS files in the Documents file 2. Found seferal registry ref to FS but am unsure of how to set a start point and its purpose. Still cannot get FS2004 to run game no matter which FS9.exe I use. Thanks for the continued help buddy..getting hard to do w/o FS2004... Ed
June 2, 201313 yr I feel for you! I'd be lost without FS too! I think you need to uninstall FS again, either via Windows uninstall in the Control Panel/Programs or using the FS9 CD1. After that, manually delete any FS folders which have not been removed in the uninstall. Remember to check that the FS9 folder in Application Data/Microsoft has also gone. Delete it yourself if not. Delete your 'Flight Simulator Files' folders (or move them somewhere else if you have saved flights of course) Then go into the registry and, having made a system restore point first, search for every entry of the term Flight Simulator and delete all the keys in the left-hand pane which have that name. Then repeat with the terms FS9 and FS2004, so that the registry has no entries at all for FS.in either the left-hand or right-hand pane of the registry tree. ... and then reinstall, with fingers crossed. If FS9 still won't run, I'm afraid I am out of ideas... Martin Stebbing, EGLF (UK)
June 6, 201312 yr I agree, reinstall Fs 2004 from scratch. At least you will know for sure whether its fs related problem or not

June 10, 201312 yr No problems for me. The only quirk I have is I have to 'Run as Administrator' if I want Active Camera to run in my VC. Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using Tapatalk 4 Beta
