May 15, 201313 yr The first hint we're likely to have of the new 172's availability will be when it's actually released. Agree - to my knowledge, they've never done a buildup. It's "coming soon" 'til actually released. About A2A Cub performance - I've found it challenging across a couple of systems, less so as I upgrade. Graphic demands are fairly high and there's a lot going on under the hood. Alan Ampolsk"Ah, Paula, they are firing at me!"-- Saint-Exupery
May 16, 201313 yr About A2A Cub performance - I've found it challenging across a couple of systems, less so as I upgrade. Graphic demands are fairly high and there's a lot going on under the hood. My point exactly. The specs of a real life plane say nothing about how that plane would perform when simulated in FSX.
May 16, 201313 yr Author I suppose we will have to see how it performs when it is out. Hopefully it is good, I don't want to buy a new rig just to run it. ORBX- the way to go Sincerely, John McGee
May 16, 201313 yr My point exactly. The specs of a real life plane say nothing about how that plane would perform when simulated in FSX. My surprise isn't due to the Cub's simplicity, but the fact that my own runs so well when just about every PC spec I look at here is better than mine.
May 16, 201313 yr I will probably get the A2A first, but might end up getting both. The A2A Cub is amazing - rather than bending FSX to their will, they've gone outside the box and actually created their own physics. Just taxiing the plane, hitting the brakes, lifting the tail and swiveling around on the main gear, the way the rudder is only effective when you add some power - I don't know of any other add-on that does this. Great performance too, on my 4 years old AMD system. Also, Accu-Feel and Acu-Sim both work with P3D, unlike RealAir's custom sounds etc. that only work in FSX. -
May 16, 201313 yr I think if you are looking for an older model than that would be A2As offering. I can't wait for either one as they are both great companies, but I really want to see what A2A does with their model. Sent from my Apple communications device. William Sequeira
May 16, 201313 yr According to this thread, A2A is modeling the 172R and 172S. So not that ancient. But likely to be steam-gauge (see the flight test pictures). Not sure what RealAir has planned. Alan Ampolsk"Ah, Paula, they are firing at me!"-- Saint-Exupery
