May 19, 201313 yr I have noticed that on some custom scenery, I have had occasion that I will drop to 7 FPS, and stay there at taxi. By accident, I discovered that if I left full screen mode, and switched to window mode, my FPS shot right back to where they should be, at 30 FPS. I have noticed that if I was originally in window mode, and had low and chunk FPS, I merely had to switch to full-screen, and that would restore my 30 FPS, and animation smoothness. It seems to be the act of SWITCHING to the 'other' of what you had when getting low frame rates, more than it was either or. Possible rendering bug in 10.21 If anybody experiences low FPS rates, try out what I noted, and please report back here, if by merely swithing up from full-window, to windowed mode brought you back up to 30 FPS or so.
May 20, 201313 yr Funny things going on here too. When I start XP, it shows below 10 fps in main panel view (full screen). If I switch to outside view and back, I have 25+ fps, stabil.

I just came back to post that there is ABSOLUTELY something wrong with the XPX 10:21! I went from Lake Simcoe to KNFT---and at the gate was crawling with 7 FPS! I merely only had to go to rendering, and switch to window mode, and BOOM---back to a steady 30 (with my usual settings). I then went right back to full screen, and STILL kept my 30 there on after. So..definately there is a bug that needs to be looked into. So, anybody, if you find you are getting chunk, or low rates...go to rendering and merely switch between the two modes, window, or full screen, and you should find your performance back to whatever your system has given you. BUG..bug...Laminar, Austin...scratch....bug......

May 20, 201313 yr Commercial Member It's interesting that you mention this. I don't have X-plane, however with FSX the video memory in used is completely reset (and perhaps defragged) when one switches from multi-monitor to single monitor. At first glance they may not seem to be related, but i suspect it has more to do with DirectX (9 and 10) than anything else thus may affect both simulators, frame rates, and memory in use. I've not been able to nail this down. Good catch. In the case of X-Plane 10, there is a known bug that affects Windows computers running the SASL plugin. Supposed to be fixed in V10.30. Not certain though this is what is affecting your sims.
May 20, 201313 yr Commercial Member Ah, I wasn't aware of that (I should have checked... feeling stupid right now... lol). Thanks for letting me know! May 21, 201313 yr @Sesquashtoo Michel is right, Carenado has posted a memory leak problem affecting windows/sasl plugin. But... ...and this may be a long shot. Something similar has happened to me too right after installing scenery: Next time, just delete the scenery_packs.ini and let XP rebuild it, this fixed my problem. I parked my new Carenado Bonanza purchase with it locking up...and read about that it will be fixed in .30. I will delete my scenery_packs.ini file as you suggest and see if this changes things. I do wonder though if this started after I installed the Bonanza and fired it up for the first time. I can't be sure...but after posting...will delete as you suggested.
May 21, 201313 yr Author Deleted, and still found, that I might need to switch from full screen, to window mode, or if in window mode, switch to full screen to restore my normal FPS. Something is definitely going on here, and perhaps Austin should look into this. This is with 10:21 Mitch
