June 15, 201312 yr Hi all, I've experienced a problem on my Q400 that I managed to get 4 items return from a google search - none of which is relevant; so I suspect that this would be a computer-specific problem. Basically, aircraft entered steady climb, but everything in the cockpit froze. If I look outside the windows, things are moving. Switch to external view, the plane is still flying, everything seemed normal. But inside the cockpit, all instruments are not updating, buttons are not working, even the FMS's MSG (top right) is flash, now stops flashing. I'm not sure where to even begin troubleshooting... My history of FSX is that I never had any crashes, it's been kept clean and install only the necessary stuff. Scenery wise, if I don't use it or I know I won't use it for a while, it gets removed. Does anyone have any ideas what could cause this behaviour? Thanks in advance. Brendan Brendan Chen Learning to use and getting use to FSX!
June 17, 201312 yr Hi Brendan, Has this happened more than once? The only time I've had this sort of thing happen is when the PC tries to update an application in the background, which can mean a conflict over resources between the update and FSX. You might try uninstalling the Q400 and re-installing it (latest version of course). June 17, 201312 yr Author Hi Noel, I'm not sure whether my computer was updating at the time (though I wouldn't be surprised if it was). But only when the new version few weeks ago was out, I uninstalled my existing and reinstalled the new. This hasn't happen before, nor have I flow it afterwards. It might be worth Majestic to have a look at for a more code-level answer? Cheers, Brendan Brendan Chen Learning to use and getting use to FSX!
June 17, 201312 yr I haven't experienced any frozen items in the cockpit with this aircraft, but one thing I have noticed is some lag. In other words, the aircraft freezes in mid air, its almost like the aircraft is on a catapult and waiting to launch; as soon as the freeze time stops (maybe lasts 5 seconds or so) it catapults to the position is should be. As for the problem you're experiencing...I do experience it if I switch between views in any aircraft at random times. Systems stop updating with information etc, how I fix it is I switch to the 2D views and switch back to the VC, or just switch views again and it usually fixes such issues.
June 18, 201312 yr Author Thanks for the info. I haven't tried switching it from 2D to/from VC, but have tried switching it to outside/inside. Next time this happens, I'll give it a go Brendan Chen Learning to use and getting use to FSX!
June 19, 201312 yr Commercial Member can it be that you moved your viewpoint inside an object (headrest, for example) ? Try moving around the cockpit.

Well I tried switch VC views, like looking from main viewpoint to fmc, to overhead, to MCP etc. Still same thing, nothing is working. The vibration (from EZCA) works, sound works, just the graphics of the panel inside the cockpit. Even outside clouds and all that works. Brendan Chen Learning to use and getting use to FSX!
May 13, 201412 yr Any ideas what may be causing this? I have just had it happen to me, All the displays are frozen but the aircraft is flying and most if the buttons work Richard i7-12700K | Noctua NH-D15S Black Version | MSI Pro Z690 - A | 32 GB DDR4 3600 | Gigabyte Gaming OC 4090 | 1TB WD Blue NMVe (MSFS 2020) | 500 GB WD Black Gen 4 NVMe | 4TB WD Black Conventional | Fractal Design Torrent Case | Seasonic 1000W Gold Plus PSU | Thrustmaster Boeing Yoke | Honeycomb Throttle | Airbus Side Stick | Virpil Rudder Pedals | Sony X90K 55 Inch TV |
