June 18, 201312 yr There's a reservoir in Boonton? Huh....didn't know that.... Yes sir it is. Of course you can Google it. It's pretty distinctive landmark from the air. The "apartments" I was referring to seem to be (i'm guessing) near route 10. They are white buildings with what I imagine is a great view. "I am the Master of the Fist!" -Akuma

I didn't know that was the Boonton Reservoir, as when you're on US-46, there's a big sign in front of it that says Jersey City Reservoir, so that's what threw me off. June 24, 201312 yr Planes:BEECH B350 (primary)BEECH BE58BOEING F18Cessna C172Grumman G21Hercules C130RAYTHEON T6 Thats a nice mix... If I may ask, let's say I have a similar group of favorites and I want them all parked at the same airport. How can this be done so all of the other models are visible? Let's say all the aircraft are parked one next to another on the ramp and I am taxiing by in the C172 and I want to "look" at all of my other aircraft... how can I do it? And, how can I park some airplanes inside of a hangar while others are out on the ramp? Flows Prevent Collisions - Good Landings Easy
June 24, 201312 yr I think (but not 100% sure!) you could use Ideal Flight (Google it) to save flights with those aircraft, and it actually leaves them there, when you start the next flight. http://www.flight1.com/products.asp?product=idealflight Someone else can probably chime in with more detail / accuracy! Or else, have a look at ; http://www.flight1.com/products.asp?product=airtrfcfx ......maybe this can do it ?
June 24, 201312 yr Author So, pardon my ignorance, and diversion of the thread for a moment, but I've always wondered: does FSX use your whole fleet of aircraft to populate airports and traffic with? Or just the aircraft defined as AI only? I've always assumed the latter.
June 24, 201312 yr So, pardon my ignorance, and diversion of the thread for a moment, but I've always wondered: does FSX use your whole fleet of aircraft to populate airports and traffic with? Or just the aircraft defined as AI only? I've always assumed the latter. That one could go either way, really. The traffic files are just scenery files, and if you use TTools to decompile it, you get three files, one with a list of airports, one with a list of aircraft, and one with flight plans. The list of aircraft would consist of the title of the aircraft as seen in the title line of the aircraft.cfg as well as a cruise speed and aircraft number for said aircraft, and the list of flight plans consists of the aircraft number as seen in the list of aircraft as well as....well....flight plan information. So in theory, you could add your aircraft into the list of aircraft, then create a flight plan for it. Whether it's a good idea is an entirely different situation altogether. If you try using some of the more complex add-ons as AI, you may find a drop in performance especially if you have multiple copies of complex aircraft sitting around, so it's better to create flight plans using aircraft that were designed for AI use. June 24, 201312 yr does FSX use your whole fleet of aircraft to populate airports and traffic with? As long as you don't have any flight plans assigned to your addon aircraft (and you don't have any traffic addon installed), FSX will only show the default aircraft following the pre-defined routes. As Kevin said, it is possible to assign other planes to flights or even create new plans, but when you do that be advised that lots of high quality models as AI traffic will result in bad FPS. June 24, 201312 yr Also, some of the more complex models use XML animation that won't work if the aircraft is used as AI. For instance, the Project Opensky Boeing 747 series would have the main gear tilted all the time, even on the ground. It wouldn't look too realistic. June 24, 201312 yr Or else, have a look at ;http://www.flight1.c...oduct=airtrfcfx......maybe this can do it ? This one appears to be the better of the two options. My intention is to have the 4-5 aircraft that I fly regularly (Aeroprakt A-22, C172, BE58, PA44) all parked on the same ramp where I have left them from the previous flight. Will give this a try! June 25, 201312 yr Dang, this is an interesting thread. I have nothing new to add, but am sure enjoying the read. Dan George (woodhick)Check out Greenbrier Aero Club, the VA for and about the GA pilot.
