June 18, 201312 yr I had recently installed SweetFX 1.4, and I think it may be behind some new CTDs I have been getting in the past 2 days. I would be in the sim after about an hour or so in full screen, but when I change from full screen to windowed mode, to work with some other apps in the background, and I hit the maximize window button on FSX, I get a CTD without any error messages. The session just exits out without a trace! I have seen this a few other times lately, when I would toggle the minimize/maximize button, and FSX goes Copperfield on me and just disappears. I have had some other crashes without minimizing or maximizing the FSX window, but they also caused FSX to exit without any error message to help me track down the culprit. I can't say for sure, but I do suspect SweetFX, which I started using about a week or two ago. I hear others have been having issues with CTDs, almost like the CTDs with the ENB series mod, which also gave me consistent crashes. What a shame, I was hoping SweetFX would fill the ENB void, but alas, I'm reasonable certain it may behind my CTD. Is anyone else experiencing random CTDs with SweetFX? A.J. Domingo
June 18, 201312 yr Yup....I happily used ENB for months then started getting the random crashes due to it. Same thing with sweetfx. Removed them and don't get crashes anymore. Seems some systems don't play nicely with these mods. I`d rather have a stable sim rather than one that craps out every time I go to windowed mode to start my VA ACARS or check an approach plate on EFB etc My youtube channel for HD FSX Videos http://www.youtube.com/user/Doogiereid?feature=mhee Doogie Reid
June 18, 201312 yr Most likely a SweetFX CTD but you might want to run AppCrashView - http://www.nirsoft.net/utils/app_crash_view.html to make sure. I also had the ENB module (similar to SweetFX) a couple of years ago and started seeing anomalies and frequent crashes. Removed the ENB stuff from my main FSX folder and the CTD's stopped. I have been seeing a lot of similar issues with SweetFX so I have simply avoided it. Best regards, Jim Jim Young | AVSIM Online! - Simming's Premier Resource! If something goes wrong, this file will usually tell you why. The above quote is taken from the SweetFX readme file. Check this file to see what may be causing a conflict. Good luck. Jon Preston
June 18, 201312 yr With much regret I also removed ENB and SweetFX and now I'm CTD free. Not worth the hassle, especially on final. Jacek G. Ryzen 5800X3D | Asus RTX4090 OC | 64gb DDR4 3600 | Asus ROG Strix X570E | HX1000w | Fractal Design Torrent RGB | AOC AGON 49' Curved QHD |

I had exactly the same issue: CTD without any error message... Mostly, when switching between apps or going from full screen to windowed mode and back. First I thought, I found something that looks like ENB, without the CTD's, but after half a week of using SweetFX, I know that these tweaks simply don't work for me... I removed everything and just enjoy a stable sim.
June 18, 201312 yr I've been having exactly the same, took me weeks to work out SweetFX was behind it. Since I removed it, not one crash. Disappointing as I love the effect, but it seems for some, it's just not useable.
June 19, 201312 yr Author I removed SweetFx, and had one successful flight from start to finish so far. I'm thinking that SweetFx was definately the culprit, without a doubt. Shame, the sim looked so much nicer with it. A.J. Domingo
June 19, 201312 yr I've done hours and hours of testing, and it most definitely is the culprit! I would love to know what the cause is, and why only certain people are affected.
June 20, 201312 yr Author Bazinga, I'm pretty certain the crashes from either effect only happen to 64bit Windows 7, maybe XP, but I'm not sure. I've given up trying to figure out the root cause, I wasted so much time trying all kinds of workarounds for ENB in late 2010, I have to just accept that I can't have such pretty colors. A.J. Domingo
