It all works best for me in default. I provided the link and the information and can only say that you are probably getting a placebo effect. It does not work in DX10 except, as my links provide, some ni settings may work with the multisamplesperpixel and multisamplequality entries in the fsx.cfg but those entries are known frame rate killers. Thanks for the info!

Best regards,

Jim

Ok so here's what I figured out tonight after testing myself. I used the 310.90 drivers and the latest NI

Anisotropic filtering:

FSX set to Tri-linear, NI to 16x, result = great aniso

FSX set to Tri, NI set to app controlled, result = Tri-linear as expected, yuck

FSX set to Aniso, NI set to app controlled, result = identical aniso as near as I could tell

AA testing (AA always checked in FSX):

NI set to app controlled, transparency in NI set to 4xSGSS = great transparency AA, no VC shimmering, AA in game looks ok due to setting multisamplesperpixel=4 and multisamplequality=8 in the fsx.cfg file, ground aircraft shadow is jagged

NI set AA compatibility to Bioshock mode (a step I missed in my original DX10 setup as per the stickied guide), NI to app controlled AA, 4xSGSS = same look and just as before aircraft ground shadow is jagged

NI set AA to override and quality setting to 4X MS or 4xS mode = same overall look (AA and transparency working) except now aircraft ground shadow has AA as well.

So, it looks like the only thing NI cannot do for FSX is to affect the main AA mode except for aircraft ground shadows. It can affect transparency and anisotropic filtering just fine though.

Jagged ground shadows and the opening screen jaggies are both addressed on page 3 of the How-To, Flyinion.

Yeah, I just missed that info the first time I went through the guide for some reason and happened to run across it yesterday before I started playing with settings to see what did/didn't work.  What I was trying to say in my testing info above is that you can't just set the compatibility to Bioshock, you actually have to turn on some level of regular AA in NI to get the shadows to be smooth even though it won't affect the rest of the sim apparently.  I jacked it up to 32xS and couldn't see a difference between that and just the in sim AA so yeah AA in NI definitely doesn't affect the main parts of FSX, just the ground shadows.
