June 23, 201312 yr Yes it requires tweaking, but the end result is very much worth it. Once you have your sim smooth you can enjoy flying, without the frustrations of stuttering and low frame rates. June 23, 201312 yr Here is a copy of my cfg Just a tip to make it a little easier in the future when posting your fsx.cfg. Instead of opening your fsx.cfg and copying and pasting it here, simply make a copy and rename the copy to fsx.txt or Jamie_Fsx.txt (AVSIM software will not allow a .cfg file to be uploaded). Now, in your post, click on "More Reply Options" and upload your config. Then post your comments. This way we can simply double click on the fsx.txt attachment you just uploaded. Just a tip. You can always continue to copy and paste. I just think a lot of people are not aware of this feature. Best regards, Jim Jim Young | AVSIM Online! - Simming's Premier Resource! June 23, 201312 yr I see your using an Nvidia card, are you also using the nvidia inspector settings?, as tweaking the cfg alone wont sort your problems. Rick McCoy

June 23, 201312 yr Author Well I reset my CFG again and tried just tuning settings inside FSX to my liking. Along with enabling DX10 and inputting the required tweaks, I am now seeing around 16fps average on the ground at FlightBeam's SFO with heavy overcast weather. This is awesome!! I really hope I can keep these frames up. I know it's still pretty low, but I'm using FB KSFO, Aerosoft USCitiesX SFO, REX, GEX, UTX, OpusFSX, as well as (in this case) Aerosoft's Airbus X Extended. I'm gonna do some further testing and I'll let you guys know how it goes!!
June 24, 201312 yr Author Well, I think I finally have FSX where I want it. I uninstalled my BluePrint Simulations LAX and downloaded a freeware Photo Realistic AFCAD to replace it. Got a minor performance boost. Flew a checkride for my VA in the ngx from LAX to LAS, I'm using a payware LAS (can't remember who makes it, too many addons ) and everything ran nice and smooth even on the ground at LAS. My last question is this: My FPS was looking rather nice and my frames rather smooth throughout the flight, however the one thing I have noticed is that my frames are jumping all over the place, from 21, all the way up to like 39. I've tried every Limited FPS setting imaginable as well as using external limiters and any time I cap the FPS I get a HUGE FPS drop. Is there any other way to maybe keep my FPS locked at a certain setting?? Thanks again guys, you've all been a MASSIVE help
June 24, 201312 yr I'm glad to hear things are tunring around! I think we can all relate to your frustation and we have all been there.. Remember, you are only testing with the NGX and that is a heavy plane for any system. Also payware KLAX (i have FS Dreamteams) is very framehungry. Check with a GA plane to see if things are more stable. If i set my fps limiter to 30, i see my fps jumping from around 28.9 to 32 sometimes when standing still and doing nothing. Maybe a splitsecond into high 30's or high 10's, but those are just spikes when loading something (Opus weather, AI plane coming around the corner etc) or all of a sudden a lot of breathing room for the CPU, things like that. But most of the time it is steady around 30, and smooth. I use the free java thingy FPS Limiter.exe. Don't know what causes your excessive jumping. Did you use the Shader 3.0 Mod of Bojoto primary to Steve's DX10 shaders? Because I remember having some trouble with that. So i uninstalled my earlier Shader 3.0 mod and reinstalled the DX10 fix (and the 'bonus' folder fixes). I remember seeing the Allow_shader_30=1 in your fsx.cfg, so maybe uninstalling that might prevent some issues. I'm not an expert when it comes to the Shader 3.0 mod/fix, so I can't tell you if it's possible that it interferes with the DX10 fixes in any way. Mark
June 24, 201312 yr Author I hadn't installed Bojote's shader mod prior to Steve's fix. However, I'm no longer using DX10, (forgot to mention that haha). It was doing some weird things to a lot of my textures and I wanted to see if I could get the same performance from DX9 so I reverted back and changed a few settings. I'm much happier with the way everything looks in DX9 and it's running well too!!
June 24, 201312 yr Author Edited, no longer needed. Thanks again for your help everybody!! You're all awesome!! Brick
December 31, 201312 yr Thanks for all the replies guys!! I've tested it with BP=0 as well and didn't see an improvement, however I had the weather set to Fair and Opus was disabled, maybe if I run all the programs I usually do it'll help stress it more. As for the other tweaks, I had a few of them already but I set the other ones and I'm going to do some testing WITH Opus enabled and see what happens. Thanks again guys I'll post back here with an update. whats opus?
